I am a bit bias because my family has one, but still, if you look at the 2008 Toyota Sienna it looks like a bloated bubbly mess.

Kinja'd!!!

The 2008 Honda Odyssey still looks modern. It has aged well. I personally think it is the best looking minivan to date.

I think it's cause it actually looks like a van. I like it.

I somewhat agree, but it looks like it's trying to hard. The most radical SE Toyota me thinks! I wonder if it is as groudned to the ground as the Camry SE...

All I remember is how shitty those were. Even the taxi companies couldn't keep them for more than a year.

Yes. It knew it was a van and it wasn't trying to hide that! It just works.

YES! That is why you NEVER see ford minivans around. I despised ford vans, although I dig the new Transit Connect thing.

My dad owned two 90's Windstars and dd's a 2004 Freestar.

Ford really cheeped out on parts.

Everything looks better when it's honest.

Designers should make vans look like the best vans possible, not like they're an SUV or something.

Coupes should look like coupes.

Sedans should be the best sedans possible and not try to look like coupes. Even though I do like how some of these new 4 door "coupes" look I would still take an M5 over an M6 GC.

Honesty in materials and honesty in design is a good thing.

I knew somebody who drove one. Everything got fucky real fast. The sliding door breaking was just the beginning. I do remember that in the mid 2000's all of the local taxi companies started picking them up. A year later, they were all gone and in the scrap yard.

Woah there yung'in. Back in my day, vans didn't have these here fancy "doors on both sides" or "roll down rear windows" or even "television sets" No-sir-ee. TYhe best we could hope for was some decorative fake wood paneling.

I had to ride in one of these once. Never again will I bee seen in one. Terrible cars. Although, the green house was quite large. When I went in the Odysseys third row I felt like I was in a prison! And our Odyssey doesn't have TV or navigation. Honda's nav rig is really awful looked dated from the factory. We just got iPads and a Verizon mifi for entertainment, and our iPhones for navi!

The acura obviously looks the best. When the new Odyssey came out I thought it would fit right in as an Acura. Maybe Acura could make it AWD, give it the 3.7L V6 and call it a day.

When they first came out my mom thought that they were a accord wagon (lol). In my mind they have very acura-esque styling, I'm surprised that acura didnt pick up the platform, they picked up the crosstour. The odyssey would have been infinitely better than the crosstour as an acura

The sad thing is the previous generation aerostar was a great van. RWD and manual option. My dad had a red one growing up with a 5 speed and no AC.

The 2008 isn't even the best-looking Odyssey much less minivan as a whole. That honor goes to the Renault Espace Phase 3.

I don't ever see these ever happening (because luxury brands) but I still like their Asian "counterparts" better. (Alphard, Stepwgn (not luxury), gotta find that Nissan one.)

You wanna see something that doesn't age? Look at the later Safari and Astro vans. Kinda hard for a box to look old.

Kinja'd!!!

Plus it's rear wheel drive. Can your Odyssey do donuts? Didn't think so.

But I might be a little biased.

Really? I still see them all over the place. Most are being used as cargo vans, but I still see some passenger versions. And about 90% of the passenger ones are those fancy conversion vans with the TVs and stuff.

Kinja'd!!! Alex B > Logansteno: Bought a VW?
05/07/2014 at 08:25

I live in a wealthy area, no one really even drives stuff this old. Most of the fancy conversion vans I see are based on Mercedes-Benz Sprinters.

Kinja'd!!! Logansteno: Bought a VW? > Alex B
05/07/2014 at 08:48

Kinja'd!!!0

That's true. I'm in a middle to lower middle class area, so GM and Ford conversion vans of varying ages are more common. It's funny that you mention old, because there's some of these running around from as new as 2006!

Kinja'd!!! Alex B > Logansteno: Bought a VW?

They killed them off the same time they killed the GMT800 trucks I think. So around 2006 or 2007. I bet there were still some on dealer lots as late as 2008.

Kinja'd!!! Alex B > Logansteno: Bought a VW?

The internets tell me they were killed off in 2005.

05/07/2014 at 09:10

Kinja'd!!!0

The internets tell the truth, I'm getting years mixed up. I'm still saying there were some on lots as late as '08. They were so hilariously outdated by '05 that no one was buying them.

There's still "new" 2011 Saabs for sale last I checked on Autotrader. And those were good cars.

That's a bummer regarding S-Max et al ... but then you get a lot of displacementtastic hoonmobiles. ;)

The S-Max was a van with a proper chassis and optionally the 2.5T five-pot out of the previous Focus ST.
