Anyway click on the above to venture into the google street map tour of the island complete with UK creepy film effect.

The walk into the Abandoned Temple that the miners used to pray before minin is extra creepy.

Or google map "Hashima Island" and place the little person on the map and tour it yourself with the street view

Now

This is an interesting look into an abandoned island formerly owned by Mitsubishi and in their long storied history. This includes Mitsubishi rare earth refinery in Malaysia that left the area radioactive.

Anyway Nordanstad and CM von Hausswolff became interested in Hashima's history, and wanted to make a documentary about the island.

Something really scary I came across while surfing the net, just thought I'd share it with you opponauts. Ultra creepy at how it was just abandoned overnight, with possessions left behind. Like they left in a hurry, almost as if fleeing from something. Those are real pictures of the island, by the way.

Take the Hashima UK website tour. Ultra scary. Post your experiences too if you are brave enough!!!

If you like this sort of thing (and really, who doesn't?), check out http://www.atlasobscura.com/ Note: I am not responsible for how much time you waste after clicking through there; you've been warned. Similar warning: for lots of nightmare fuel, search "amusement" and check out the ultra creepy abandoned amusement parks (e.g. giant clown head mouldering in post-Katrina Six Flags New Orleans).

I was going to say, this was where part of Bond's Skyfall took place, but I had to go verify. Yep, sort of.

In the 2012 James Bond film Skyfall , the island served as an inspiration for the lair of villain Raoul Silva but filming did not take place on the island itself. One section was recreated at Pinewood Studios in Great Britain and the rest via CGI . [18]

Just to clarify: I haven't been to Hashima. I'd love to. Fascinating history, culture, engineering, economics, you name it. Er... wait... you mean the virtual tour? Not yet. Am at work, and gotta run to take a half day off. Hoping to finally finish my car repairs today...

Well if you like scaring yourself by going on a holiday (a virtual tour of an haunted island) click on the link.

I am going to do it later in the daytime (lol) I hope you get to doing it then I can have somebody to chat about it with. I mean, this is not hollywood fake stuff. It is a real place you can go. Scary!

Hope you finish the car repairs. Plan it out, making sure you get all the bits and bobs you need beforehand on the way home. Engine bay?
