So the FP post about the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! got me thinking. If you had the opportunity, which F1 model would you choose?

Kinja'd!!!

Personally, I would choose the LM. There is just something about its beautiful paint and purposeful rawness.

Post your choices below.

Good choice. That paint is stunning as well.

I really need to see an F1 in person. Every time I see pictures, they look better and better.

I agree. I can still remember when they came out way back when. It's crazy to think that they're now worth over $10 million.

The same thing's gonna happen with Ford GTs.

(I swear I thought that, then realized you owned two)

None.

Sacrilegious words around here, but I'm keeping my $10M.

Haha. While they have increased in value quite a bit over the last few years, I doubt and hope they don't reach $10 million. At that price, so many true enthusiasts would never be able to own one, let alone see one because the owners would lock them up and never use them. Unfortunately, these prices, in part, are being driven up by people looking for investments rather than individuals who love the cars. I kid you not, just 2 weeks ago I was talking to my stock broker, who knows very little about my personal life, and he suggested that I "diversify my portfolio with some cars."

Me: "Huh. Well I do think cars are pretty cool, but I don't have much knowledge about them. Do you have any specific models or brands in mind?"

Him: "Oh yeah. I've been looking at auction results all morning. I think this Ford GT car would be a good bet."

Me: "Huh. I've never heard of that car. Could you tell me more about it?"

Him: "Of course. It has a 5.4L supercharged engine, a 6 speed manual transmission, and was built to commemorate Ford's 100th anniversary. Also, they only made like 4,000 and a lot of them were wreaked by their owners because it doesn't have those electronic intervention things. (He begins chuckling) These things are going up in value like hot cakes. Heck, I just saw one go for over 400 grand and it was painted some weird light blue and orange color and they called it a Heritage. (Chuckles again) If I had a car painted like that, I wouldn't want it to be part of my heritage." (Continues chuckling)

Me: "Well it sounds quite interesting and I'm glad that they seem to be increasing in value. So what do you suggest I do? Purchase the a car or two and store it in my garage?"

Him: "Well I haven't done a ton a research on that side of it yet. I wanted to pitch it to you first and see if you would even consider it, but I would suggest buying around 2. Probably that ugly heritage one and a stripe delete car because those seem to bring big money as well, especially the black ones."

Me: "Well thanks for the advice as always, [his name]. I'll definitely talk to Cathy (my wife) about it and get back to you next weekend."

Needless to say, I found it ironic that, out of all the cars he could have chosen to advise me on, he chose the Ford GT.

I wish it hadn't. I admire the guy a lot because he's been great but saying a Heritage edition is ugly. Nope. I'm thinking of sending him a birthday card with one on it. Haha

Send him a holiday picture with your family, and the two GTs in the background. That would be perfect.

F1 is Legendary...but...one car vs. a collection and an awesome mansion/garage (more garage than house if I'm building it) to house them in? Naw, man. I can't do it.

I mean, I could get a P1, 918, and an F70 with $7M to spare. Again, the F1 is legendary, but I'd be hard pressed to call any car a NP at that price given the kind of machinery you could get for it.

I understand. I was just kidding with you.

If you want an even worse example, think about the Ferrari 250 GTO. For the price of one of those you could have 2 F1s and tons of other great cars.

"Hey man, I took your advice and bought two of these GTs! They're so fun to drive, but this 'shifting your own gears' thing is still a little confusing. And I still can't figure out what that third pedal is for!"

Instant crackpipe. No way. It cannot be worth that much. The billionaires are just playing 'keep-away' with it now. 52 million. WTF man...

I know it's insane. I love cars but I seriously couldn't justify spending that much on just one. Also, in this particular case, I can see why people would literally lock them up in their garages and never drive them.
