"4muddyfeet - bare knuckle with an EZ30" (4muddyfeet)

In just over ten years of driving, I have owned 10 vehicles. Some I despised. Some, I would give anything to have back.
Thinking back, I can remember every reason I bought each vehicle. I can remember how they drove, which one had a gentle wobble through the brake pedal, which one needed help on a cold morning, which one cornered on its door handles, and which one gave me the biggest grin. For different reasons I had to get rid of the best. No matter how frustrating some of them were to maintain, it actually makes me feel quite sad. I imagine it's like giving away a loved pet. You really hope they get looked after and adored, as it would break your heart if you saw it in an uncared for state. I'd love to know where some of them are now!
Anyway, I made this so you can see my driving evolution (or devolution...) in chronological order

Well...I am 26 and have owned exactly two cars neither of which were good. I suck. lol.

I've been lucky with getting cars, and it has no bearing on who you are. Also, I didn't actually buy them all! My parents bought me the Punto, the Clio was a company car, and the Series III and Defender were bought by my business so not technically me :)

Well that's very encouraging. So far I have owned a 1992 Ford Tempo (don't think they get those in europe) and a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier. Not sure what's next but headed back to school so it will be at least 2 years before something better. Both cars are notable for how uncompetitively awful they were.

Have they done what you needed them to do? They're only as good as their purpose

Yes. Yes they have. The Cavalier especially has been extremely reliable. It's a basic car, but it takes a licking and keeps on ticking! 300,000-400,000 kms not uncommon for those cars.

Then you bought the right car, and that's far more than I can say with some of those up there ^

Alfa GT and LR Series :) sweet
I've owned many cars by age 23, but few of them have been roadworthy.
That will change soon. I'm determined of it.

I still have those two :)
Did you track them?

Nothing that interesting. I just sort of got them nearly fixed, or on the road to being roadworthy, before they got squashed by a tree. That was the Jaguar XJ40 and the Fiat X1/9 (I plan to buy replacements as soon as I can).
The Lada Niva's not really safe to take on the road yet, it still needs quite a lot of work. The BMW E36 325i I did drive for a while, but pranged it and have promptly left it there while working on other projects. The Spitfire's mid-restoration and didn't run when I bought it. The 914/6 is waiting a couple of jobs (I really want to get that one on the road). The MG TC is in good condition and running, but just not insured or MOT-ed. The Peugeot 106 GTi is awaiting front shocks and MOT. Lastly the Maserati 228 is a lot rusty and a bit squashed, but fixable.
The Alfa 156 is the only one that's actually drivable by me :S
Of those, the Lada, BMW, Triumph, Jaguar and Fiat are under my name, although the rest are free for me to drive as soon as I get them fixed :)

YOU HAD A FIAT X1/9. Would you like all of my jealousy too?!
That's one hell of a line-up, may I ask what you do and where you find them?
You also seem to have a penchant for rust. You're welcome to come up Newcastle way if you fancy tackling the Series!

Yep :) I accidentally won it on an eBay auction for £330. I put in a lowball bid and no-one went higher :S
Non-runner, but I cleaned up the cables to the starter, cleaned up the fuel pump, rebuilt the carb and up she started. I was part-way through debumpering it when this happened:
I will be getting another one, that I shall park well away from big trees.
Most of the ones I've got are opportunistic purchases. The Jag I got from a family member for £60 as he was going to scrap it, and the BMW I got from a friend as an MOT failure. The Lada me and my dad bought from eBay as Defenders were too expensive and we needed something for tooling around the field in, and the Spitfire I bought from a classified website as a first project out of university.
If you've got a welder and some beers I'd be happy to lend a hand if I'm ever up that way :)
