I was sent this video by the guy who owns the 911 (991) and created the film. It features him in the car telling us why he opted to go for a 911 (Not S), why he specced PDK, PASM and the chin spoiler and why he's happy he did so after running it for a few months.

You'll find him on twitter at @findtomdotcom if you want to ask any questions about the car.

In the video Tom refers to why his old Merc C63 AMG was a load of crap !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

Interesting. I got a chance to drive the 991 C2S PDK coupe at an AutoX (it was a Porsche event to try to convince 997 owners to buy the new car). And a family member has a 991 C2 PDK cabrio. I am really not a fan of her car. The engine really seems to struggle with the weight of the car. I dunno how different it would be if her car was a coupe.

I have a 997.2 C2 with the 3.6L H6. My engine is more enjoyable to drive than the new 3.4L. The new engine is peaky and you have to rev the piss out of it to feel any power.

I feel like Porsche kind of ruined the C2 in order to score better on MPG tests. Seems like you have to spend money on the C2S to get a real 911 these days.

Felt the same with the Cayman 2.7 and 3.4. In theory the 2.7 is up to the job but it just doesn't feel it, especially with the ultra long ratio 2nd gear. The S is mmmmmmmmm awesome

I think Porsche purposely makes the base models feel odd to force us to buy the S models. Which is a real bummer. They should make each model the best car it can be. They really don't need to worry about forcing people to buy the S model. Anyone who can afford to buy the S is going to buy it anyways. I think they should be more concerned with the base model competing well with other cars that are priced the same or lower than them.

I bet there are a lot of people that would be tempted to get the base model if it had red calipers. I recently saw a base boxster with PCCB on autotrader. Seems like it would be hard to justify getting the brakes instead of the S unless you really wanted the yellow calipers.

Haha so funny. I bet some people do buy cars based on brake caliper color. Way cheaper to just have your calipers painted.

Wow a base Boxster with PCCB. Why in the world would you get brakes for the track on a convertible with smaller engine?

I really can't agree. I have a base 981 with MT, and the total package is gold. I do agree it could use a slightly shorter pinion tho...
