Yeah but that's only, like, 45mph. That's how Metric converts to Standard, right?

I've done that. I've done 110mph in a 55 (in my Grand Prix) and 120 in a 60 in a BMW.
That's not to say it was a GOOD decision by any means.

Like I said, I won't defend it as "perfectly safe" or "something I'd recommend" but I did it late at night on a four-lane highway with no other cars (six-lane highway in the case of the Grand Prix). My biggest fear was a deer crossing the road at the wrong time, and I'm not usually one to take stupids risks while driving.

I'm sure most of the people on oppo have driven well over 115 on a public road at some point. Stupid to do yes, really stupid to advertise, not to mention the fact that it makes you look like a complete tool. I'm surprised the grand am stayed in one piece at that speed.

It was years ago. I haven't done it since I was a teenager. But you know, if doing something that "most of the people on oppo" have done makes me a tool for mentioning it on oppo, then so be it. I was just making the point that 115 on a public road is not necessarily a horribly irresponsible thing to do. It depends on the context, which isn't given in the article. Context of mine was late at night on a road with no traffic. If he did it, say, during rush hour on a two-lane road with traffic he was weaving around, then yeah that's pretty stupid.
Surprisingly, not only did the Grand Prix stay in place, it seemed pretty stable. And had a bit more in it, but 110 is where the limiter kicks in. On the other hand, 120 is just where I chickened out in the BMW.

I'm sure no one else has mentioned this yet, but I was very disappointed with that headline when I realized it came from Canada. (Working title of my very polite monster movie project)
