I got a set of factory steelies for my 280Z this weekend. Slapped my original hubcaps back on it. Meet a very cool 240 owner who I bought them from. Petrol heads are the greatest bunch. We chatted for 60 minutes about our cars and he detailed all that he was doing to his. He had a cherry 73' that we was doing rust repair on and was tweaking out the motor with a worked over Rebello head from a Maxima.
The tires are like a dang pizza cutter. Tires are a little small for my year but makes the drive a little more fun.

Very cool wheels. I love your 28o also! I'm on the hunt for one right now, actually.

Thanks! I don't know if you remember, but we talked about them back in February and March. Your posting of the red 74' Portland 260Z was my inspiration for get a Z car. I picked this up in late March.
It's been a lot of fun to drive around. I have work to do, but that's why I bought it.

Loving it. I kept the steelies and wheel covers on my '77...thought they just looked right...though if I'd found or could afford a set of Cromadora Daytonas I'd have to used them. If I recall the stock wheels were 195/70-14...

I have rust to fix in the usual places. None of it is structural though, whew. The interior will stay factory stock. It still has the Datsun air fill canister. Exterior will probably stay all stock as well, except that I plan to change the wheels to Panasports once I fiddle with the motor. I'm still toying with the idea of getting 240 bumpers. I just don't want to affect the body and have a negative impact on it's resale.
I want to pull the motor, put in flat top pistons, upgrade the head and camshaft and install triple Webers. I'd like to have 220ish HP to the wheels. I love the sound of the triples.
I'll probably keep it for about 3 years and then move on to something different. We'll see though.

Thanks. You are right, 195/70. The tires that were already on the steelies are Sumitomo 175/70! The tires that came with the car are 195/70 with a treadwear of 800. The Sumitomo's are like 600.
