It was a great day at Katie's Cars and Coffee this weekend. Everytime I go, I see something I thought I'd never see in real life. Like, y'know, a real Shelby Daytona. Here are some of my favorite pictures that I took.
Ferrari F40
×
Ferrari F40 Competitzione
×
Corvette Grand Sport
×
A REAL Shelby Daytona Coupe. There are only 6 of these ever made. Some were crashed, others are in museums. This one's in a parking lot. Amazing.
×
BMW 2002 Turbo
×
Sunbeam Tiger
×
I love luggage racks on the back of British roadsters.
×
Ford GT
×
A 'Cuda
×
Aston Martin V12 Vantage
×

Wait... A REAL DAYTONA?!! Were you allowed to touch it?! Dear God....

That's about as priceless a car as a car can get.

I want you. I want you so badly.

Yes. It had two signatures from Shelby. And, yes I was. The owner saw me taking pictures of it and was like, you wanna look inside?

Incredible. I loved the Lambo/Ferrari pic leading off. The Shelby is just unreal.

"Yes sir, I'd love to take a look inside. If you could also put the keys in the ignition and allow me to sit in the drivers seat, that would be great. Just take a step back so I can close the door..."
Cue the police chase montage.

Every time I don't go, something awesome shows up. I missed the Aston Zagato, and now a 2002 Turbo AND Daytona Coupe???

The F40 Competitzione was also pretty amazing. Only 10 of those were ever made.

Yeah, that's a hard act to follow unless you have the 1966 GT40 race car that won Le Mans.

First rule of Daytona Coupe spotting: Unless there's a CSX2286, CSX2287, CSX2299C, SX2300, CSX2601, or a CSX2602 on them. They're all replicas.
I'm guessing it's Superperformance Coupe, since Shelby's signature is on it. He licensed his name out for them.
Then again, it could be anything. The old man would sign anything for a buck.

I did over hear the guy did say "This is chassis number..." but I wasn't paying full attention, so I'm not sure.

With 2287 in the Simeone, 2299 in the Miller, 2300 in Europe, 2601 reportedly in Argentina, and 2602 in Japan, it would have to be 2286, Rob Walton of Walmart's, which as far as I know has always worn number 9 and never displayed sponsors. So this is definitely a replica.

I looked and 2287 wore number 14 in the past, but currently is plain blue with racing stripes. Will put a photo of the car on his Instagram, this is why I hate filters.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
If you compare it to 2299, you can see definite differences on the firewall of the car.
But it's significantly different compared to a Superperformance Daytona.

CSX2612 - It's a continuation car built after 1999. Not original. Looks like a fantastic clone, but it's no original coupe.
I hate it when people try to pass off continuation cars as genuine 60s Shelbys.

Now, it doesn't mean it's a joke like a Fiero F40 replica. It's probably nut and bolt accurate, and goes like stink... It's just NOT what he's leading everyone to believe it is.

Here's the details on the "continuation coupes."

Thanks for clearing that up!

The owner could very well say "Shelby Daytona Continuation Coupe CSX2612" and people just miss the "continuation" part because that was the exact moment when their jaws hit the floor.
I remember looking it over real quick noticing how nice it was. Looks original - a very nice (and expensive) tribute to the original coupes.

I'd imagine one of the original Daytonas wouldn't ever leave a showroom or museum floor.
Even then, howmuch do these continuation models go for? I'd imagine a pretty penny still.

Mmmm, that's where I want to live. Everyday all day. HA maybe attach some of those brush vacuums for street sweeping just to spend more time in the car.
