If you want any three letters on the back of your Ferrari it's G, T and O. Very few people get the chance to own a Ferrari GTO, GTO's are extremely rare, and extremely special cars, if you're lucky enough to see just one, you're having a good day. If you're lucky enough to own one, well; you're having a good life.
Meridien Modena, a Ferrari and Maserati dealership based in Lyndhurst; the beautiful capital of the New Forest, have two ultra rare Ferrari GTO's for sale. The first of these stunning machines is a beautiful 288 GTO. The 288 GTO was originally designed to compete in the legendary Group B era of motorsports, but Group B was disestablished before the 288 ever had the chance to compete. For us, this doesn't particularly matter as we still got the 288 GTO (meaning "Gran Turismo Omologato") for the road, and it is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful Ferrari's ever produced. For me, it's easily the most beautiful of the lot, and that's really saying something when you consider all the incredible cars that Ferrari has produced over the decades. Only 272 of these cars were made, so if you can afford it, pull the trigger and buy it. It's a true legend of a car.
The GTO party doesn't end with the 288, Meridien Modena also currently has in stock a 2011 Ferrari 599 GTO. An absolute animal of a car, the 599 GTO is a 661bhp monster that was Ferrari's fastest ever road car just a few years ago. Unlike the 288, this GTO was never built for racing, it's a pure road car and isn't in existence just to fulfill a homologation criteria. As a result, it's supposedly a fantastic road car when you want it to be, and when you don't, it's a real track destroyer. An absolutely incredible 6.0l V12, this could well be one of the greatest road cars ever made.
Ferrari has only ever produced three models that have been given the GTO badge, Meridien Modena now has two of them ready to go. You may well need a giant bank account to afford these cars, but when you consider what you're buying, it's well worth it. These cars don't come around very often at all, they are both remarkable in their own way. If I were you, I'd get down there and check them out as soon as you can. Quite.
This was probably the quietest car there. Everyone else was fawning over their Minis, Rovers, Cossies, BMWs... dullards.
