I took some photos at the second annual Carrera of the Americas this weekend. The Carrera of the Americas is PCA's club race and driver's education event at the Circuit of the Americas.
The event was open to the general public, but it was not publicized and it didn't draw much of a crowd (probably on purpose). That lack of spectators, VIP's, and bouncers freed up some cool spots around the track where I would never have been able to loiter and shoot phots. I still didn't have pro photographers access on the side of the track, but everyone has seen those shots and angles anyway.
I have the full set on my flickr here

These are my favorites

What Brian said. Some of them look so awesome/good that they don't even look real... if that makes any sense. lol

Wow, really good shots. Love the "candid" feel a lot of them have.

Thanks! I think the high angles give it that "toy" look. I thought the same thing when I saw them on the camera.

COTA has two bridges that go over the track. During a race weekend they're usually covered with banners or they have ushers to keep people from standing and watching. This one is between turn 15 and 16 - facing turn 16. The really high up ones are from the tower or the VIP section above pit lane.

Yeah, they look kinda like the shots you'd see in a trailer for a new Forza or GT game.

Dang dude, you're digging up some old stuff! That's the Huebbe (brothers? Father/Son?) Beetle at the 100 Acre Woods rally a few years back. It's a really cool car. More info here: http://www.huebberally.com/
Thanks for the kind words!

Sure thing. I pulled up your albums and noticed the 100 Acre Wood one - I grew up in central Missouri, and got to attend the rally in Salem several years ago. Was wishing I had a photog's pass! This car may have just inspired me to do something like this with my kid(s) one day...
