I added an aux input to the stereo on the Mini. I had to do some soldering and that was a first for me. Some of it was quite small. Pretty pleased that it worked out.
here is the instruction set I used.

Sounds good! Removable cables are always nice instead of the kind that randomly seem to snake out the front.

Pretty awesome! I was going to do the same with my LGT but got one of these for Christmas, Link

Very clean.
Did the exact same thing to Mrs McMikes 2003 Honda.

Nice placement! I too cheaped out and neglected to get the rear fog lights on my car. Hence, I had the blank switch location in the panel. I didn't think to use it for my aux in though.

...and this is the result? ...quite lame, if I may say so myself. BTW, my Aveo has an MP3 inlet from the factory. That I do not use. Because I listen to the FM radio.

I had a great Scoche FM transmitter that I used forever and it died. I tried a couple of newer ones and they just weren't as good. Got sick of it and did this.

Pretty slick setup and not too difficult to put together. Soldering the plug for the back of the radio was the worst part. Very tiny. Works great now.

That was the test run before I bolted it all back together Mr. Negativepants. Always test before you reassemble. Looks like a normal Mini dash with a jack in an unused switch location now. Beats having to dive into the glovebox with the $$$ kit Mini sells.

I really like this one, it finds the best station for you and the bluetooth works surprisingly well.

better? I don't listen to the radio much. I prefer podcasts and Pandora.

Now that's OK.

Finally the love of the Germans to put blank switches pays off. Your Mini seems to be doing quite well, though - only one blank. You posh bastard :)

Technically, it's my wife's car, but I drive it as she is using the Evo to haul the kids. She loaded it up pretty well. Sport suspension, S, roof and good colors. It has held up remarkably well considering it is 9 years old.

"she is using the Evo to haul the kids" - Single most dreamy statement for a guy. You're one very, very lucky man!

I know it. It gets better too...
