I cleaned the engine, and ordered a radio. Due to the fact that for some reason, I don't have that many cassettes.
Oh, and holy shit! Remotes are expensive for these things.

dude cassette decks are the best!

Well, yesterday I helped change brake lines on my car, I might wash my mom's car today.

I've got one of those SD card things. The cassette player swallows them whole though.

Did you sort out how to make it pass inspection yet?

Rewired my ignition to bypass the ballast resistor. Now I have a better spark and hopefully better mpg. I can feel a slight increase in power. Don't need to go WOT, but top end is still the same. I will probably mess with the timing today. Yesterday after the C&C, the two other o2 owners recommended I do that. I also wanted to fix my seat belts. Made the mistake of taking them apart without looking up what I was doing. Unscrewed the wrong side and had the spring explode out of the dame thing. Took three tries and about an hour to wind it back up and get it in properly. Never again.

It should as of now, unless something else is screwed up and they didn't tell me. I know they were weary about my headlight switch because you have to hit it a couple times to turn the lights on. But it's going in some time this week to get reinspected.

I drove my sisters car. Also, I want to buy the original radio of Oliver. I have an aftermarket, and although it doesn't look that bad, I just want this as original as possible. If you know about someone that has a Cabrio radio laying around their garden, could you tell me, I would appreciate it. Also, nice looking engine bay!

Sounds good. They might have just targeted the main issue, and not mentioned a couple of the smaller, less important issues. But hopefully they didn't do that.

Nice, I'm going to keep the stock radio sitting around for a while. I might install an amp though. It's got Bose speakers, which are no bueno.
I'll keep an eye out for one of those radios though!

I have one in every car that does not have an aux port. Whoever made these is a genius.

It's raining cats and dogs so I'm going turn off the traction control and rip around the local h.s. parking lot.

Nice, Fixing the seat belts sounds like a good idea. I did drop a toothbrush between the radiator, and the front bumper. That was my oh shit moment for the day. Luckily I could just reach underneath and pull it out with some assistance.

Big thanks! Haha Bose doesn't seem to be as good as carmakers try to convince us. I mean, Miatas have them.

Spent all morning in a 750Li.
Good lord those TT V8s never get tiresome, and they make a nice noise too.

We've already spent almost half the value of the car buying tools we didn't have and all the parts and a bunch of other small things. If there's anything else we might just sell the van and our pop-up and buy an old Suburban.
![]() 05/04/2014 at 14:20 |

Yeah, Haha.
Their older systems, such as the one in my A4 sounds great for the time. Good balance, and sound coming out of it. On the other hand on the Cadillac Srx that I drove, the Bose system constantly sounded like the audio was monotone, Lol.

Haha, Do that!
It's super sunny here today. I'm waiting for a rainy day to go on a Hooning expedition though.

Fancy, my weekend consisted of studying for the GMAT so no car fun. I've been making a list for when I finally take this damn test.

no its just that I95 on the bronx sucks massive huge fat dick. My friend either bent his wheel or lost a wheel weight on the way back through the bronx before the GWB.
This isn't the first time the bronx has fucked something up on my car, 2 years ago it knocked the projector shroud off my marauder when I was headed up to RI. The roads in that area just SUCK!

Yeah, one of those 1980's Suburbans. I'd probably part the Safari out in the end rather than trying to sell it as a whole. When it really starts to get out of hand is when you have to make big ticket repairs that cost as much as the entire car does.
![]() 05/04/2014 at 14:22 |

I literally bailed out my car today. I was out of town all week and left my car parked in the driveway, no big deal, right? Wrong. The one week I'm gone, my convertible decides to develop a massive leak, right when we get +6 inches of rain and tornadoes. On the bright side, at least I don't give TOO much of a shit about it, with it being a 14 year old V6 F-body.
![]() 05/04/2014 at 14:24 |

The TT has a shockingly similar engine bay to my A4. Except it's a V6.

Ya, the always get tangled and don't really retrieve properly. When I have the money i will buy the modern seatbelt upgrade and install them.
![]() 05/04/2014 at 14:25 |

Haha, Nice.
I'm also creating a long, expensive list on what I want to do in the near future.
![]() 05/04/2014 at 14:26 |

Eh, probably a 90-something. My dad's really familiar with those. But yeah, there's a rattling coming from the driveline when you put the transmission in gear and I'm getting concerned that that's going to fail and cost more money than it makes sense to spend to fix.
![]() 05/04/2014 at 14:26 |

Ouch! Cloth or leather interior? It must smell pretty bad in there.
![]() 05/04/2014 at 14:26 |

That does not sound good, and I thought that roads in Dc were bad. They should really repave every once and a while.
![]() 05/04/2014 at 14:29 |

Yeah, that doesn't sound good at all. If that tranny randomly decides to go out, that's not going to be good for anything.
![]() 05/04/2014 at 14:29 |

Sounds good! Modern seatbelts are probably less tangely.
![]() 05/04/2014 at 14:30 |

well I'm not saying the roads in DC are good, I'm just saying the roads in the bronx are bad lol
our interstate infrastructure just blows period.

Neither me, nor any intermediate family members have gotten bent rims. Which is good.
The lady friend, Well let's not go there. She killed a rim another way.

my bmw wheels are cast from cheese, the wheels on the marauder are forged aluminum and will withstand being run over by a tank.

Oh Yeah!
![]() 05/04/2014 at 14:35 |

There's nothing I can do except wait for the driveline to implode. We've owned it 16 years, so we've got our use out of it. But I'd hoped it would hold together better, especially considering it only has 144k on it.
![]() 05/04/2014 at 14:36 |

The only good that I see out of that is that it's a double din.
That thing comes out, this thing goes in. Except a less old version of that.
![]() 05/04/2014 at 14:36 |

Haha, I don't even want to know how cheap-o shitty tire rack rims would withstand that.
![]() 05/04/2014 at 14:37 |

Cloth. And yep, it's already started smelling like a musty locker room, unfortunately. I disconnected the battery before doing anything else, in the hope of saving the electronics and whatnot. The weather's supposed to be warm and dry for the next few days, so I'll probably leave the top down to aid the drying process.
![]() 05/04/2014 at 14:39 |

That sounds like it would work. I'd dump a shitload of carpet shampoo in there, and give it a good blasting with the steam cleaner.
Lots and lots of those little pine tree air fresheners also. Lots of them. Lots.

ka-blammo!

Wait, Bose? I'm not certain about your particular car, but Bose systems often have individual amps at each speaker. In those cases, you can't just replace the deck , nor can you simply add an aftermarket amp. YMMV, but something to look in to, anyway.
![]() 05/04/2014 at 14:47 |

Highway 10 has been shut down due to pieces of shitty tire rack wheels have littered all lanes for 10 miles straight.

everyone in southern maryland rocks shitty chinese wheels so this doesn't shock me at all
![]() 05/04/2014 at 14:50 |

I've already looked into it. The PO had an aftermarket deck installed. The unit that I ordered would fit in the car. According to Crutchfield at least. We'll see how this goes.

Figuring out which bits need replacing on the air intake system and getting replacement parts ordered, which is far more than I managed to do yesterday.

Yeah, I've seen wheels so shitty that I didn't even know that anybody made them that terrible. Saw an older design on a new enough Camry with a giant "B" in the middle that literally took up 70% of the wheel. With some ugly curvy chrome spokes.

Good choice. Watch movies and stuff in Walmart parking lots at 3 A.M.

That's what they made those for right? Watching movies.

I drove the car to my in-laws for lunch, then drove it back home.
Afterwards, I looked on Auto Trader for a Disco II or an LR3 and contemplated how many thousands of dollars it would cost me to kit it out nicely for overlanding. I then compared this to my current funds:

Put my 16" steelies back on with all-seasons since the stock 15"s with choppy loud Primewell tires were driving me nuts.
Also ground the rust off my wiper arms and re-painted them with trim satin black.
And I looked at the Trans Am and made plans on what I will do to it someday. Someday.

Looking shiny! Sometime I sit in my backseat and ponder what I should do to my car.

Finally put the brakes on that were supposed to go on when the master cylinder got changed, spent $30 on another rotor because it's a new record.. Groovy baby.
Called "Drive it till you grind it"
" take a weekend day to do,
one at a time and check your lines
because if the brakes fall off
you really are screwed.."
