I absolutely love these things. I remember a Wheeler Dealers where they bought one for a price that I could almost afford, but that was so long ago they've bound to have gone up by now.

I think its become one of those cars where the bad ones are really bad and require a mountain of cash, or you need a mountain of cash to get a nice one that was cared for and recently had a light restoration. My daughter's family just got an early 71' 240Z and they are getting hard to find, its either rusted neglect or restored for the most part. They found a somewhat barn find that was worked on a little over the past two years. They should never sell it, I think in 20 years it will be a fairly rare early production car that nobody messed up with ugly additions or let rust. It wouldn't be a bad choice for a company like Dynacorn to make the shell for, all the other panels are available.

Yeah, it's getting that way with GTV6s and a couple of other cars I'm on the scout out for. There's no middle-market any more.
I wonder if anyone's had a serious go at making a kit-classic car company. Manufacture all the parts you need to make a well-loved classic like a 911, E-Type or the like, and sell them in pieces to slide past emissions and safety regulations.
You could prop up the overheads by selling parts as well, especially big parts like bodyshells.
I wonder how difficult that would be.

Well they do make everything you need, shell included in steel or aluminum for the E Types, even the low drag parts. 911s haven't gotten rare or expensive enough, lots of shells to find I guess. My guess is Porsche would be heavily against it. The Dynacorn bodies are great, the new 60's Bronco is great. They are fabricating them in China, I know some are $15k, not really cheap but you get a new car from the 60's etc. Who wouldn't want to put a newer diesel in a new/old Bronco instead of a plastic SUV!? Someone in my neighborhood has a GTV6, or someone who visits. Its not restored and in good shape, silver. Sounds good too. I think the body shells would depend on how much the mother companies were against it. Ford doesn't seem to care about Mustang and Bronco shells, it only makes enthusiasts happy and more likely to buy a new car for normal use if you ask me. I told my son in law to just buy the Z and I would help with anything, they will be rare and I don't think he will ever sell it, its now a,"dead guy car" -Seinfeld

Yeah I'd probably have to do a good deal of persuading, or pick someone like Triumph that doesn't really have any management to get annoyed.
I'd take a TD ute of some sort over a new SUV any day. Doesn't say much though, I'd take walking over a new SUV...
I wonder what 3D printing will do for parts availability. I'm hoping that it'll become mainstream enough that I can get custom parts made up very quickly and cheaply for the host of mildly unpopular old cars that I like :)
