There are many different types of cars.
Small cars, practical cars, sport cars, super and even hyper cars. But not all of them have been built to have fun in.
When in 1886 Karl Benz built his three wheeler, he wanted something to take him from point A to point B on dirt roads and don't get shat on by the "engine" in front.
But it was certainly not fun to drive, nor was it intended to.

So the first cars where not built for fun, but for freeing up the horses to have fun with.
But what was the first car built to have fun in?

"But it was certainly not fun to drive, nor was it intended to."
More importantly, the claims it was the first are totally spurious, little more than Nazi propaganda.
Siegfried Marcus has a very good claim to having built the first proper cars, and unlike Benz he had no thought in mind except leisure and having fun.

What was the first toy car? Technically, that would probably be the answer.

Stutz Bearcat or Mercer Raceabout, early teens.
