... And gained 5 horsepower.
Had the Jeep on the Dyno last night to try out some new software, put down a solid 228 -229 consistently. Went home and removed my rear muffler (as I have been contemplating a mid muffler with side exit exhaust as part of a project, and I wanted to see how loud and droney it was with no muffler so I can gauge what parts I need to buy). Threw it back up on the dyno today to test some other new features and decided to make another WOT run just to see if it made a difference (no tune or anything) and I put down 234 hp twice and 236 once...
(blue run was with muffler, red without. And yes, the tire is really really really off balance at the high end there, but Jeeps aren't meant to go 100mph).
Not to bad for a stock Jeep.

Now dyno it with a Civic fart can.

Put on a fart can and a cold air intake for 100 more, bro.

Do you own a dyno or something? I am so jelly.
Also, that's a huge gain just removing the muffler. You leaving it like that?

No thank you

WTF, mate?

But free 20 WHP bro! 30 With the cold air kit!

Or something. I work for a dyno manufacturer. The noise is a bit to raspy for me so I am thinking a 40 series and a glass pack mid mount with a turn down just north of the rear axle will be perfect. Ill build a custom tune for it once I get my snorkel and high flow filter. Hoping that I can put 240 to 250 down after tuning.

That's the dual mass flywheel being a douche bag at low RPMs.

Yea but how many stickers?

Shit, brb gonna go remove my muffler.

Woah woah woah, bro. You need to think about controlling the power you already got before you start making more!

but is that enough wings?

Wow that is awesome. What systems does your manufacturer have access to? For example I know Nissans have some difficulties to be tuned due to certain protocols or something. Pardon the lack of knowledge, I read about it once a few years ago.
![]() 05/02/2014 at 16:02 |

Did someone call for stickers?
![]() 05/02/2014 at 16:03 |

Most auto manufacturers have their own protocols (with exception being within parent companies like GM: Chevy and Buick will have the same protocols). We have access to most major manufacturers for read purpose only.

... so ... vegas ... dyno. Now I know who to call

Also, Ghostbusters.

Nice torque curve. Flat as a pancake.
I forget, what kind of Jeep is this again? I know I knew at one point, and maybe even asked before.

Ok, that's right. Not bad. 2 door or 4?
![]() 05/02/2014 at 16:30 |

Actually, I know someone considering selling his roots style Mangneson for his 5.0 (you have a 5.0 right?)
![]() 05/02/2014 at 16:32 |

4 door.

Nice. I drove a 2 door when they first came out with that engine. I was pleasantly surprised with how much get up it had. Quick for an SUV, let alone a Jeep.

That makes sense. Thank you for explaining that sir
![]() 05/02/2014 at 16:52 |

Once you start building them out for what they were meant to do (go off road) they really lack in the power department. bigger wheels, heavier bumpers, racks, winches, tools, and higher gearing all make it feel less than powerful.
![]() 05/02/2014 at 17:10 |
|
Trust me, I know that all too well. I've owned 3 Jeeps in the past, all of them lifted on big tires. One was on 35" tires, big bumpers front and back, a tire carrier, and a big winch... and it had the 4 cylinder. Oh man was it a dog. You really had to plan hills and freeway on ramps ahead of time with that thing.
Are you planning on modifying yours?
![]() 05/02/2014 at 17:19 |
|
Currently sitting on 35"s with 4" of total lift. Working on exhaust / intake [read: snorkel]/ tune then bumpers, lights, and a roof rack (with a tepui tent!), and a winch shortly there after.
So short answer. Yes.

Awesome! I love the blacked out grill.
Man, I miss my Jeep. Taken it on any trails yet?

Mostly short local stuff, nothing too intense, I want to make sure I have the proper equipment or am with others who do before I hit anything major.
![]() 05/02/2014 at 18:44 |

Gotcha. Yep, that's the smart thing to do. I wish I could go back and tell my high school self that.
Where about do you live?

Middle of the Mojave

Gotcha, well if you ever need trail recommendations, I've been all around SoCal and tons of different trails. Lots of fun to be had out there.

Yupp I think Utah will be my go to just because of how scenic it can be, and its about as far as So Cal is, but I will be traveling into socal as well.

Yeah. 2011 5.0. I haven't done anything massively irreversible yet though, not sure I wanna take the jump yet to completely modded out aka screw resale value
