Browsing the internet looking for info on my favorite Pirelli World Challenge car, I came across this:
2 New TRD Superchargers (For Sale)
This is the Ken Stout racing team fielding the #86 FR-S in the GTS class. When they told me last weekend that they weren't using the FA20 block anymore, I didn't realize that meant they would sell off the remaining parts.
This is one of four TRD superchargers that were basically designed and built specifically for the team. There was something about PWC rules that said they needed to have factory boost I think. The result was that they raced last season with a "factory" supercharged FR-S, which I thought was awesome.
Even on price, they don't seem that unreasonable. They are offering two of them new for $4,995 each. For a TRD designed supercharger, that seems like a reasonable price compared to some aftermarket options. I should see if my local dealership will install it.
If you don't want to worry about bolting it all together though, you can get one of these: !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
2 complete FA20 engines with the best of everything built by Steve Schmidt for sale.
The first one has Pauter Rods, Ferrea valve train, bigger valves ported heads, 9:5 comp. JE Pistons. Dailey dry sump system. It is complete, Throttle body, TRD blower (1 of only 4 in the world) to Pan and header.Makes between 340 and 350 HP to the wheels at 15 lbs of boost. $14,995
The second one has Pauter Rods, 9.5 comp. JE Pistons, and TRD super charger. There is no throttle body or Dry-sump pump with this one. $8,995 without the supercharger $12,995 with
350HP in an FR-S? Awesome! 10/10 would DD. Too bad that's over half the base price of the car. Still, if I blew my motor, this would be a very tempting buy. What does Oppo think?

Essentially $4k for an OE bolt-on supercharger system? Great deal!

While it is technically OE, I don't know what else would be involved to make it work.

Definitely a tune or remap. I'm sure if the team is selling them they'd be more than willing to offer technical support in getting the engine running.

But dat bundle price doe...ouch. a bit more than half of what a new 86 costs. Though I imagine reliably boosting your own 86 would involve approaching $10k no matter what for everyone who isn't an engine builder and doesn't own their own repair/fabrication shop.

Its a little high for a TRD kit, but low considering the rarity. You would need a new ECU probably, or at the very least a piggyback.

Considering there's an HKS supercharger for sale at $4,750 that only gives you 235hp (or 203whp) I think you'd come out about even if you got the $15k engine. I can't imagine how much that dry sump system cost.

Hmm...wonder how much an 86 with a busted engine costs...
