I didn't think much about the clown shoe, but then I drove one. Then, *want*...what fun little cars.

Funk it, knock on the door and ask for a ride. ..I found many clownshoe owners are reasonable sportsmen/women. I have witnessed a young woman and her girlfriend climb into a dark silver Coupe on gunmetal HRE's. It was great. Made methink of these two.

Kinja'd!!!

Think I'll go watch some Initial D now...what were we talking about?

Oooohhhh, Pretty. Oh, we aren't talking about the Bobcat? The Focus? The Armada? Ohhhh, the Clown shoe. That's nice.

I know :(

The only rare M car that you can get under $30K (sometimes) is the Z4 M Coupe

But I dunno if it's as rare as the clown shoe and if it will ever have the same following. Everyone loves the clown shoe. Not everyone loves the Z4 M

Got in one my school's parking structure. I love it.

Everyone should love the Z4M coupe, but for some reason they don't. You'd be surprised how many people just outright hate the FF.

It's cause the Z4M has a sad face!

A lot of people hate the FF? Weird. It's a shooting brake. You're not allowed to hate shooting brakes on Jalopnik or Oppo

I think we have this skewed perception of shooting brake acceptance because we spend all of our time here.

But out in the rest of the world, everyone seems to dislike them, which is depressing.

You know what you're right. Now that I think about it I thought the FF was stupid when it first launched. But that was before I was on FP and then Oppo everyday.

Pretty soon I'm going to find myself buying a Miata and a diesel engine to transplant into it

I'd probably already have a Miata if my dad let me buy one. I've found so many on Craigslist it's funny.

The later cars with the S54 motor have always been priced at a high premium over the earlier ones (I don't remember seeing them south of $30k for at least 5 years)...but even the older S52 cars are creeping up quite rapidly into the high teens/low 20s now.

It's funny thinking about the sum of the parts (essentially the older cars were E36 M3 motor and drive trains, and suspension bits that date back pretty much to the E30) you wouldn't expect it to be much of anything - but damn they're amazing to drive, and I love how they cocoon you in to that little cockpit with very little car behind you and that long nose ahead.

This site maintains a pretty good registry of the M Coupes out there and are helpful when considering buying one - http://www.mcoupebuyersguide.com/

I found one that was beat to hell and with very questionable history at a dealership a few months ago - admittedly they were selling it very cheap (around $10k) but still it was too much of a risk not know what else was lurking under the covers, so I walked. The test drive was a hoot at least though.

Nah, those are actually really expensive still. Like unreasonably expensive.

Like $30k for a well-sorted one expensive.

Probably would've broke down before you had a chance to sell it. I'm surprised the earlier ones were fun to drive as well!

I only meant to show you the BMW, but I'm glad you agree. But that Clown shoe is beautiful....
