How do I know this? I had this happen with a Jetta of the same the era.
Right where they put that logo is the bit of the dash that flips up with brute force when the airbag deploys, I certainly wouldn't want that Jetta logo lodging itself in my eyeball....

That logo will be "Jetta"ing out of your head like a Ninja's throwing star.
