200HP ST competitor. Should Chevy Do it? Should it also come with a coupe version?

Yes. I mean, I probably wouldn't buy it, but some people would. Why would they not want to compete in this segment?

200 seems conservative....
How about 220hp, and price it between fiesta and focus?
Then a Cruze SS with 275hp can clean up market above the FoST, and a 175hp Spark SS can clean up below the FiST!

Should [Auto Maker] build a [Model][Performance Variant]?
Unless you're talking about the GT 86, then fuck off, it's fine the way it is.

The RS already handles really well and has an aggressive gear set. All they need to do is tune it for +30HP and require 91+ octane. Give it different wheels, aggressive rubber, and maybe a better exhaust and call it a day. They can charge an extra $2k and call it whatever they want.

GM already did a fwd with 260hp. Don't know how well the 2L would fit in a Sonic but I'd seriously consider one. My turbo Cobalt is really starting to feel old.

I was trying to figure out how that gif loop was made. I just woke up from passing out.

The RS is only $1k cheaper than a Fiesta ST, and the Fiesta out does the RS in every measurable aspect. Adding 2k to that price would put it in Focus ST territory, which it would never compete with.
The SS needs to match the ST price while at least coming within spitting distance of the performance, and ~170 hp would not cut it. Not when the Fiesta is making a ridiculous 230 lbs ft of torque at the wheels.

The Cobalt had other problems, though. While I respect it for being fast as hell, it really was not a great platform. The Sonic however is starting from a much better platform.
They really need a Cruze hatchback, and also some styling that is at least as aggressive as a freaking Corolla.
