So, now that I've had this car for (almost) a couple weeks and had a chance to work on it a little bit, I figured I'd post an update.
Things I've done so far:
Remove and discard about 40 lbs worth of junk that the PO left in the car. Shitty rubber floormats, Alanis Morissette CDs, snow brush, umbrella, a fairly sizable rock wedged under the seat, AXE body spray, etc.
Replaced the worn out steering wheel and shift knob with items I had laying around.
Buffed the headlights with ScratchX.
The throwout bearing was making some noise when engaging the clutch at low speeds. I noticed the clutch reservoir was low; topping it off has eliminated the noise thus far.
Cleared the cat-related CEL. It has yet to return.
Pulled off the hardtop to discover that the soft top is completely shot.
Removed the "style bar"
Removed a cheesy mesh grill insert
Things that still need to be done:
THOROUGHLY clean the interior.
Install a resistor to defeat the flashing airbag light since I've obviously removed the airbag.
Replace worn shift boot.
Replace leaky radiator.
Replace leaky valve cover gasket and clean the engine bay.
Change oil and filter.
Ditch the fugly chrome wheels and mismatched tires. There is noticeable vibration at highway speed; I suspect either the wheels are bent or the tires are unevenly worn (or both).
Possibly replace soft top, though I might just leave it as-is and sell the car with the hardtop.
Determine if the A/C works.
Wash/polish/wax.
Despite the issues, this should be easy money when I finally put it up for sale. I was originally shooting for a pretty quick flip, but I may end up leaving it down at my parents' house for the whole summer so my old man can drive it around.

You are very lucky that axe can didn't decide to turn itself into a grenade...

Are those lower style bits are a body kit or factory?

Check your slave cylinder for leaking as they commonly fail. They are easy to replace but bleeding the clutch is a bitch. That was probably why your clutch master reservoir was low. You should be able to source a 10AE steering wheel and shift knob to get it back to that blue/black theme. I love the blue the 10AE came in, but the interior and blue top are just a little much for me. Also Miatae are very sensitive to wheel balance and will shimmy at 60 if the wheels are just a little out of balance. They are fun little cars and easy to work on. Enjoy it while you have it. Just don't expect a premium from the 10AE status if it has more than 100,000 miles.

Pick up some Rennemetal hardtop brackets. They will help keep the top from rattling so much and stiffen up that chassis. I just installed some in mine this last weekend.

It came with the original wheel and knob but they were more or less worn beyond recognition. I'll probably swap the original wheel back on before selling, though. Don't think I want to deal with potential liability of selling a car that has had it's airbag removed. As far as collectability, this one has 112k miles, so I'm not exactly expecting the fact that it's a special edition to bring a price premium when I sell... 6-speed and Torsen will be the selling points.
It's definitely too much blue but I think I'd be ok with these seats if the carpet was black. Tan interior would match this blue pretty well but unfortunately it wasn't offered.

I've got my eye on Craigslist for a decent set of wheels and tires. Of course, now that I actually need a set, I haven't found shit. The times I don't actually need anything, I find a ton of deals.
As far as selling this one, it's ok; I'll still have my NA.

Difference even compared to properly adjusted front and side latches?

Yeah I think so. Mine rattled quite a bit. They run about $50 and you can sell your latches to cover the cost. It was a night and day difference for me!

I might do that for my NA then, but not for this car since I'm just going to be selling it.

Lol your the only one. On the forums these kits are referred to the the Tupperware models. Most people rip them off and sell them to ricers. I personally like them way better without myself

That looks like it could be the factory 6disk changer control no idea why it would be moved there. Unless someone was dicking arould and broke the wires. And instead of replacing the wires or solder them back together they just moved the controls there.

And now you know why the old gearheads hoard parts. As my dad always said "It's good to have a spare in the garage."
