DriverSports.org is a sim racing league that I started. I even made a cool logo.
I made a Kinja blog as well, but the league has kind of flamed out so it sits dormant.
My idea, on the surface, is a sim racing blog reporting news, reviewing sims and equipment and interviewing industry insiders.
The blog, however, would only be one part of the operation. The second phase would have the blog serve as the home of a competitive sim racing competition with regional, national and championship level competitions, which is not your usual online experience where everyone races from home, but rather live events where racers gather in person to race on equal equipment.
Once you've identified the best sim racers, put them in race cars, a la GT Academy.
Jalopnik would then have a new sub blog, be host to the first ever SCCA-like live sim racing league and have a stable of talented drivers to call their own.

Interesting idea but I'm with this guy, couldn't it cover all racing video games? Sims, arcade, et cetera?

If you went the route of live race events that the racers would have to travel too, one sim would have to be decided on.
On the other hand, most of the sim racing leagues out there do just focus on one simulator. An outfit that standardizes procedures and provides a championship experience for all of the common sims under one governing body could be worth pursuing.
I do picture the blog covering all sims, so maybe a blending of both ideas. There are online tournaments and championships for all of the popular sims and then there are hosted live events run with a chosen sim (whoever wants to sponsor it by providing equipment).

It doesn't have to be locked to one sim. You could even cycle through the major sims. Host a GT tourney, a Forza event, iRacing, RFactor, etc...

Cool idea, subbed for sure. Im real big into sim racing and cant get any of my friends to follow suit, would love to have some other people to constantly race with.

The group I run with races rFactor, GTR2, GTL, Race 07, VHR, soon to be Assetto Corsa, and probably some others. We run a lot of stuff......

As it should cover all sims and all car games, really. I'm not great author, so I'm probably not going to lead your virtual racing writing team, but I do have several years experience organizing and hosting online events and would gladly help put on a championship series just for the sake of competition. Thanks for reading my ideas.
