What do we think of the S2000? I want to hear all opinions, good or bad. Especially from owners?

I mean as long as you get one that's not beat to hell I think you'll be fine. Again the S2000 is a great car and I'm pretty sure DD it is easy. Plus it was made when Honda actually gave a shit so you know it's going to be good.

My mate used to do it. it was reliable enough, I DD an MR2 so I can image I'm worse off for luggage space.
Doable if you don't need to regularly carry things or people.

I had one...owned it for about 2 years, absolutely loved it. But as work got busier the only time I drove it was to and from work in congested freeway traffic - which it wasn't built for. If you have an enjoyable commute, it'd be OK and you'd have the most amazingly fun canyon carver/weekend car ever. For me, I rarely got to take it out on weekends and the stiff suspension, noise, lack of torque and gearing was just too much to deal with on my shitty commute.
It's a great car - not too bad on gas, very reliable, and a lot of fun. Not the most spacious...pretty tough to pack it for more than a weekend trip, but that's expected. If your commute isn't too horrible I'd say go for it. Revving that thing up to 9k is very very addicting.

A former boss of mine did it with no trouble. As long it's comfortable enough for you and can carry what you need to carry I don't know why you couldn't do it. Personally, I don't fit in the damn things.

As long as you can deal with the rather small trunk and two seats, there is no better DD to be had. I have DD'ed mine for the last three years. Rain, snow, and beautiful sunny days only get more fun when driving an S2000. The cars have very few major issues and maintaining them is similarly priced to any other Honda. One thing that you have to keep up to date with is the oil levels. If you run the car high or low on oil you can kill the motor quickly. Other than this, the cars are damn near bulletproof with owners breaking over 300k miles on the original motors. Hope this helps.

Had mine for little over a year and would agree that the AP1 is my favorite as that's what I had the AP2 is slightly better in drivability due to the lil bit of extra torque/ lose that 1000rpm though. If you have no issues with space constraints and are not a tall person I would definitely say go for it. An upgraded Stereo head unit will give you lots of joy as not having a AUX or anyway to hook up a IPod and carrying around a bunch of CD's sucks. I also would recommend making sure that the Valve Spring retainer are updated if you go with an AP1, Had to by my second engine because of this overlooked issue, A couple hours, Valve Spring compressor, Magnet Pen and some general tools along with some upgraded springs, and the car is much more responsive at the 8-9k range, But nothing beat hitting an on ramp at 7 in the morning top down with VTEC ringing on the highway walls!

I 2nd this. Fabulous car, but even with the top up it was impossible to have a phone convo if you were on the highway. It's low with a sill, and long doors. After a while it can be a pain to get in/out of (especially if someone is parked next to you). At the time I only had a 1 car garage so it was an exercise. The door would be open 7 inches, but would almost be touching the wall. Once you're in it's a wonderful place to be. Provides so much feedback, and has the best shifter I've ever experienced. You always know what that car is doing. Its a blast to go beyond it's limits of traction, and get the backend to kickout. Many a drifts were had. The main reason I sold it was to do more trackdays. Most organizations won't let convertibles participate in their trackdays.

Top Gear and others ran consumer satisfaction tests that called owners of S2000's the most satisfied owners of any car in production, during the early and mid 2000's. I'd say that's as strong a testimony as any...

I did it for about 4 years, and as long as you can pack light, it's awesome. same as everyone else, decent mileage, handling of the gods, and the trunk is roomier than you would think.
