Icon A5 demonstrating its extraordinary handling characteristics on the water. The A5 is also claimed to be virtually spin proof and extremely stall resistant while in the air. Checkout the video after the jump to see a side-by-side flight with a Cessna 150.

There's a kit plane that's been sold for over a decade that looks almost identical to that, but I don't remember the name. Much hay was made over it being the fastest amphibian kit you could buy.

The "Seawind" series is what I was thinking of. A tail-puller instead of an upper fuselage-puller, though. I remembered that wrong.

I was guessing either SeaRay or Seawind. I don't believe the Seawind ever made it into production.

Wiki says something like 80 kits built. Never certified or in formal production, but EAA ones are around.

I know someone with a pre-order one one of these. And my parents live on a small lake...

Icon raised a small hubbub a few years back at Oshkosh where they set up a fancy static display and went around swiping potential customers credit cards on Square card readers for a fully refundable $2000 deposit.

Maybe a Lake Renegade?

I liked the looks of the Adventurair amphib kits back in the day (very similar), but they were legendarily badly built.

That's the Seawind you're talking about
