Sometimes, life is just amazing.
You may remember hearing about this sexy beast above in !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! about the e39 from a couple weeks ago. This weekend was the culmination of 2.5 years of hard work from my brother and his coworkers at !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Before I discuss the events of the day, here are some of the specs on the e30.
Engine: 4.0L V8 (from a 1995 540i)
Trans: 6-speed (e34 5-series, not sure of the exact provenance)
Tires: 255/35ZR18 front and rear
Rear Brakes: e46 rotor and caliper
Front Brakes: 14 inch Brembos
The car was painted to match the blue on the BMW roundel. It turned out to be something closer to Polestar blue, but it looks bad ass and it certainly helps the car stick out on the track.
Can't seem to embed the video, so here's !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

Her inaugural run went as well as we could have hoped. The car ran like a top, and proved to be one of the fastest cars on the track. When you're running against Audi R8s, track prepped M3s and more, I'd say that's pretty good.
Here's a photo dump of the more interesting cars at the event. Spoiler alert: there's a gulf livery Miata.
First time I've seen a 458 in this blue. It was beautiful and the owner was an instructor that was very generous about giving people rides the back. A Ferrari driver that can actually drive! Huzzah! Definitely an awesome guy with an awesome car.
This was hands down the most drool worth setup at the track. Grand Cherokee SRT8+Audi R8+trailer= dreams come true.
Mmmmmmm e30 M3
GULF LIVERY EVERYTHING!
This was an instructors car. It was an absolutely beast. We're talking 168 MPH on the back straight, then down to 80 MPH for the first corner in an unbelievable short distance. My brother rode in it and seriously regretted not having HANS device during those braking zones. He was sore as hell the next, that lucky bastard.
My brother's ZHP. It definitely wasn't the fastest car out there, but it got the job done. Even with the "dollar store racing seat" my brother installed. It's very advanced, as you can see below.
Some guy brought his bone-stock F10 550i. Now that's the way to use a lease, people!
'Murica
Dat wing...
A former Grand Am race car. Now that that series is defunct, these are probably a steal.
Just to cap off a lovely day, I got to go for a ride in this absolutely beautiful 996 GT3. Holy shit it was fun, you guys. The sound of that flat six at full chat was mesmerizing. If there is anything I gained from this whole weekend, it's that I have to get some track time of my own.
Shout out to my brother's boss for letting me borrow his pants! Hope you guys can make it to the next event!
