There is a girl that works at the local bike shop that I want to ask out. She's a really cute redhead and I really like her personality. But I just don't know how I would go about asking her seeing how as I'm a known customer at the bike shop and it would be kind of awkward to ask her while she's working. I can't really think of any good excuse to get her phone number either. Any suggestions?

Go into the shop to buy something silly, like an inner tube or a tire lever, and chat. Finish up with, "Hey, I was wondering if you'd like to go get a cup of coffee sometime. We can talk about bikes, or the weather, or whatever you want."
There are two possible ways this scenario can play out: No, Yes.

This.
Make it no big deal (you're not proposing, after all), and you're better off finding out quickly and politely if there's interest or not. It's too easy to pine if you haven't yet asked the question...

Do some elaborate bike race "if I win we date" type thing. Wait you're not living in a tv show? never mind.

Did you ever had a good convo with her?

ask where she likes to ride, and if you can tag along with her. Talk while youre out there. Youll get her on her terms in "her" space. Youll get the most honest answer about anything.
dont expect it to move quickly, but become riding buddies first, and enjoy it. Some of the best times with my girlfriend were before we started dating. We still have good times, but dont rush things. Get to KNOW her.
