I was thinking about starting a sub blog about overlanding/expedition and adventure travel; It would be a mix of aggregated content from places like Overland journal, expedition overland and expedition portal and user generated content. There are a lot of sub blogs and I don't want to create an orphan zone or ghost town blog so Im really only interested if enough people were interesting in. What say you? Have an ad for the overland expo 2014 that gets the gist of what overlanding is all about.
Skip the first 40 seconds unless you think bad acting and over dramatized squallier is your thing.

I'm for it. Frequent gear reviews, trip reports, maps would really draw me in over ExPo. I think the format of Kinja is much cleaner than what ExPo uses as well.
If you open it to public users, I'd do a review of my Nemo Helio shower, haha.

I would like to open it up like oppo, it just means manually approving authors.

Oh, cool.
I think what could be interesting are extensive reviews of user rigs. Not like a build thread per-say, but like what Jalopnik and TruckYeah! does for new cars/trucks.
Any big ideas you have? Other than making a whole subblog, of course.

Well, I'm in the process of a big build out of my rig (lots of fixes and a lift) and I'm doing the white rim in a few weeks that will be well documented, but to be honest, with a day job, family and and such, most of the stuff will either be aggregated and user generated . I have a close connection to a few in the overland world and am in the epicenter of some very fine shops (cruiser outfitters, Greg miller, Terraflex, etc) so I would like to do some outreach and see if I can get involved more in that regard.

I'm jealous, haha. Must be nice to have Moab in your backyard.
I'm confident your blog will be entertaining, priorities aside. I think the informative posts as well as lovable BS that make up Oppo creates a casual environment that keep us coming back. It would certainly attract me if your blog has the same effect, but with an Overland-ish twist. There's a certain amount of formality I feel I have to put forth on traditional 4x4 forums, that sometimes makes me feel uncomfortable.
