I'm still trying to find a good place to help but I'm really not having any luck. I'm going to be doing some work on the girlfriend's truck. It's a 2004 Dodge Dakota. It needs new axle seals. The problem is, it's a limited slip. I've done open diffs before no problem. But the LSD is new territory. I'm having trouble on finding a good how to on removing the axle shafts. I'm assuming it's not going to be the same process as an open diff. I'll be doing this over the weekend, and I really don't know how to deal with the limited slip. I need help!
EDIT: It's a Chrysler 8.25" Rear end, if it helps. Not sure what the ratio is, but that didn't matter when I did the 8.8" in my Ranger.

First stop: FSM. Available for download here: http://www.biodsl.com/durangofsm.htm
I know, it says Durango, but notice the top of the page covers Dakotas, particularly the 5,249 page PDF for the 2005. I'd download it and view it locally, the in-browser viewing is really slow.
Looks like tab section 3 (diff and driveline), then pick your particular diff, e.g. the axle shaft and seal removal for the 9 1/4 are on about p 210.

Happy to help! Good luck, and don't forget gloves. If you haven't done driveline work before, be aware that gear oil smells a lot like dog crap and seems to stick to skin for awhile no matter how much you scrub with GoJo.

That's for sure. It was some pretty nasty stuff in my Ranger.
