"vorspringing" (vorspringing)

Even had time to get to DMV before they closed, so tags and title are done and everything's official. :)
(And since everyone's doing pictures of their house, this is my house. Street view has my car prior to the TT in the driveway, so it's fairly out of date.)
Still has the original toolkit in the trunk. No spare though.
And the jack.
The interior isn't bad. The guy who owned it seems to have liked taking stuff out, but at least he saved it all - I don't mind doing electrical work, so it won't be too bad.
No horn. 94005 actual, though, that's pretty awesome.
The thing I'm least happy about his having removed is the center console. Still, it's intact and I have it, so it's just a matter of putting it back in.
Front bumper was also included, as promised - it's the Euro bumper! I need to replace one of the original brackets because a bolt is sheared off, but otherwise all the hardware's good to go for putting it back on. He also had the original Hella fog lights, one of which has a cracked lens but that's fixable. Wiring for the lights is there, although who knows how long it's been since those lights were taken off.
Now, I have to sit down and figure out what bits get ordered first and what can wait for a while. Also, I need to go drive it. :)

Not to jinx future visits, but DMV only took half an hour. I was shocked.

There were a couple on CL when I started looking - this one just had the best combo of running/not rusty/not too messed up.

Sweet :) I do like these cars. Is it a 320i?
Also, this is my sort of car. A bit ratty, but solid where it counts :)

320is - so it has the factory 5 speed, front and rear sway bars and limited slip differential. Shifts pretty smoothly, the gearbox is in good shape.

Mostly restoration - maybe an autocross or two once everything's put back together.

Man, fantastic E21, it's like a mini E24! Nice odo number too. What's your plan for it, just bringing it back to its stock glory?
Lovely lovely lovely.

Thanks! Definitely planning stock restoration for the body, and eventually the interior. I'm probably going to go ahead and swap out for a K&N air intake under the hood, but it's running OK for the moment so I don't need to do a lot there yet.

Might I recommend finding a set of E21 Recaros. Some of the best-looking factory seats ever, ever.

That's definitely on my list - unfortunately the originals weren't salvageable so the previous owner replaced them.

Just refurbishing these for my 2002:
Just wondering how I can save the BMW roundels:
You have any idea?

I don't, sadly. I don't know much about upholstery. But what would be awesome is if you got actual plastic/metal roundels of the same size and anchored them in the same spot.

The only thing I can come up with is to have them stitched. But I'm not sure how that will look when it's so little. I know this guy who says he can make it work so I'll probably have him make a sample.

I was just bumpin' around the internet looking for seat fabric and found these guys, who do embossing in leather and vinyl. They're in Oregon, and I don't know how much they charge, but maybe other local shops will do something like that as well.

Well, not living in your side of the Atlantic so Oregon is a bit way off. I've had lots of contact with Dave from Aardvarc Racing and he has some great kits for upholstery. He's the one delivering my 5-speed kit for mounting the Getrag 245 but seats and all was a bit too pricey with all that shipping.
