I saw this today at Toys R Us. It's the Mongoose Dozer. I can't seem to say that without using the monster truck show guy voice. Features include:

Supersized 26 inch x 4 inch tires; Alloy rims for light weight durability; Cruiser frame with tons of ground clearance; Rear coaster brake for sure stops; 3 piece crank.

All this can be yours for $249. Note: the handlebar streamers belong to the sissy bike behind the DOZER.

It's all fun and games until you need to replace an inner tube.

Or tires. The cardboard appears to say "26" inches for the wheel, but those things are mighty wide. Even my 2.7's would be VW-at-a-stance-festival levels of splayed and stretched.

What is the profit margin in lemonade retail these days?

Bike tires practically last forever, though, so it shouldn't be much of a problem unless you're hardcore about maintenance. Which you probably wouldn't be if you rode this.

They have a better one with disc brakes too, and Specialized makes the Fatboy, which is 8000 times better because it's not a POS Mongoose from Walmart or Toys R Us...however, it is also 10 times the price. The Mongoose's weight alot as far as I remember, the Specialized weighs very little, which is confusing to the brain.

Not very much, especially when you drink all the stock.

Understandably, the people riding this wouldn't care about tires. Heck, it'll probably snap in half before that. But cheap tires = soft rubber = wear out very fast. I always buy high-duro tires (I regret this, I hate my current tires, but I can't justify tossing them).

No, I lied.... I want one of these now. They're like 2 wheeled crack.

Oh look, crappy WalMart bikes cashing in on the Fatbike category. Not only is the size absolutely TINY (there is no reason a child should ever need adventure-size tires), it's a coaster brake-only bike, even worse for a category of bikes that were developed to be go-anywhere bikes.

Get a decent Salsa Mukluk or Surly Pugsley and be done with it.
