I would buy one of these. They're so much better than the older ones and I'd rather have one of these than a Lexus anyways. They're super comfy, high quality interior, roomy trunk and space for passengers, good fit and finish... and the doors don't feel like they're made of tin. Plus, 270hp isn't bad. And it's the best looking Toyota sedan in... who knows. Looks more elegant than the ES.

I would rather have this if having to choose a large FWD plush sedan.

If it were me I'd get a mint lincoln town car instead. Use the price difference for the extra gas I'd burn.

One of my friends back in high school had a very large budget for his first car. He chose a fully loaded Avalon. Smart guy, knows a good buy.

Luxury cars made by brands that are considered non-luxury are the best cars because you get a crazy amount of toys and stuff for not a lot of price. Case in point, this and the Impala.

I'd rather have this; much faster and similar interior space (trunk is smaller though) while being a smaller car and weighs less than 3,500 pounds.

Your gas mileage wouldn't be that far off actually.

I've driven it. Not bad, not good, not offensive, not anything. It tries real hard to not have any character at all.

I agree, I really like this generation. I think I like the Impala more, but for something wearing an Avalon badge, the thing is hot. In fairness though, the 2nd gen is sort of a sleeper.

Actually I saw a first-gen today and got one of those weird car boners. I dunno, it just looked like something I'd like to have. I think having a 2-seater gives me some sort of complex where I'm attracted to practicality

much harder to get sideways though. And way less modable. I'm picturing a sleeper town car with a super charger. But now I'm just getting totally away from the original premise of your post.

Not to sidetrack but I am really curious about that new AWD Buick. It lacks the row but...

Magazines say it is currently the best driving Toyota not including the twins. I don't know but I think I would get one of these.
Also My Oppo confession that I really really like these a lot.

^This one. What the Duke said.
I passed one of these on the highway today and I was shocked when I saw the Impala badge. They look really good.
Then I saw a Pontiac G8 GT and completely forgot all about the Chevy.

No.
I rather buy JDM Goodness that Toyota Indonesia offers me. I think for the price of Avalon you can get the Mark X sports here in Indonesia:
Which is like a Camry, but with RWD (or Optional AWD) and 314hp to boot. Awww yeah.

Of all the Toyota-brand passenger cars, I hate the Avalon the least. However if I were in the market for a car like this, I'd get a Buick LaCrosse instead.

Too bad the engine was the base 2.5L V6, not top of the line 3.5L V6..

It was last generation, the face-lifted model.
