My friend has a tenth-scale Traxxas Rustler (the one in the video), which got me thinking: what do you opponauts think of hobby-grade R/Cs?
By the way, please sub to our channel if you can. It means a lot.

I have an E-Revo with maaaaany upgrades. Me and the Aston techs here are work bash every now and then on a field behind the dealer,. Love them out of the box but the upgrades are sooo addicting. Things will break, be ready to buy parts all the time :]

I have a Rustler and a Ford GT from HPI, I think. I love them a ton, but they're at home and I am not...
My Rustler has a $250 motor in it and can hypothetically reach around 70-80mph, but it usually gets out of range before it can accelerate enough.

Fun. Equally as money draining as working on a regular car. "What, I can get a titanium flywheel for $30? Send me two!". Eventually, I got bored with it though. I currently have a Latrax Teton in my "gift ideas" list for my wife, though. Could be a fun little toy for me and my son to play around with around the house.

I enjoy my 1/8th scale RC8B, nothing beats burning 30% Nitromethane / 9% caster oil / 61% Methanol at 65 mph on straight-aways.
Not my video, but this is the class I run.

Sweet. The only reason why my friend didn't get a Revo was because the Rustler was so much cheaper.

Awesome. My friend's just running a $50 Speed Passion Reventon S ESC + Brushless combo. We think it can go about 55 MPH. If not, we can call it the Sammy Hagar Special.

My philosophy is that when it breaks, the replacement will be better. That's where my upgrades come into play. Unfortunately, I was scammed on Craigslist and bought a Rustler with a dead motor and ECU. Seller used a battery he was keeping for himself for the demo, and took the whole truck out of sight when he went to grab the new battery I was getting. He and his dad (Did I mention he was a 12-year-old kid being encouraged by his dad to be a thieving jackass?) quickly swapped the good electronics out for some dead ones and the kid was too innocent-looking to be suspicious, so I never knew until I got home. I knew he wouldn't do anything about it, so I decided to send him into a panic by emailing him about how "everything works great!!" to make him think he might have accidentally kept the garbage and sold the goods. Still, what a jackass. But anyway, now the Rustler is super fast after the obligatory $250 brushless motor I picked up.

lurve them! Have many. Gives the ability to act like a hoon without being a public nuisance or hazard. Also, customization of visuals and mechanicals is far cheaper

Not bad. Mine is too fast to try this, but for that speed you could always pick a quiet 45/55mph street and have him drive it from the passenger seat, leading the real car. Great way to determine the actual speed, too.

The teton seems cool, Maybe it'll re kindle your interest in rc. I had an hpi savage x big block feb of 2012 and I also lost interest. I got the rustler in the vid as a little toy and I'm completely into rc again.

That thing must be expensive to run. Being nitro and all

I thought it would be cheaper than getting a weekend/track day car. It's not. I still enjoy all my nitro and electric RC cars and trucks though.

I had an original RC10 (the gold anodized chassis) and then an HPI SuperNitro RS4 car. (more of a 1:8 scale than 1:10). They were both fun. I've been torn between the Axial Racing crawlers and the Teton. I figured budget wise, the Teton fit better. Maybe it'll keep the mod bug at bay, too, since hopefully there aren't as many hop up parts for it. Ha!

Aside from gravity and said nitro vehicle being upside down, that tends to beat nitro R/C's

I used to have a Traxxas T-max. I spent more money on upgrades than I did on the original truck. It was a lot of fun. I eventually gave it to my neighbor and his kids. I didn't have the time to put into it anymore and my son wasn't very interested.
After seeing this video, I've developed an overwhelming desire to drop by the hobby shop on my way home. Damn-It!

OPPO has been over this before, a lot of us are R/C guys, I used to race all the time, have had and raced 10th scale touring cars, 18th scale trucks (still have one, all aluminum and brushless), 10th scale stadium trucks (still have a brushless powered Duratrax Evader Pro), 1/8th monster trucks (still have a t-max and a Xtm Mammoth), and I have alot of experience driving 8th scale truggies and buggies (that weren't mine) I never raced, but currently have, and use often, a 10th scale Associated short course truck, a 1/10th Axial Scx10 rock crawler, and a 5th scale (yes, 5th scale, gas 2 stroke engine) HPI Baja 5 SC

Have you heard about dromidas? they're 1/18th scale 4wd vehicles for 100 bucks each. 20 mph out of the box. Quick for a brushed 1/18th scale.

They are sooooooo fun. Get a used Rustler with a Mamba for around 500 or so. If not, get the VXL. Never the stock rustler. Velineons will outlast a brushed motor by years.
