CP, buy a Corvette instead.

I have friends too, they just aren't freeloaders and have their own car. The Corvette also doesn't have shit build quality, I seriously can't imagine paying so much for that generation mustang at this point.

Insurance isn't vastly different, if I can afford to pay my own insurance for either (and I'm young, like you), a corvette won't break you. They're both expensive. You could easily get a C5 Z or C6 for that asking price, as well.

Excellent car, decent price. I've seen them a bit cheaper in DC, but not much cheaper. Love that color too.

As a parent, no way in hell I'd say yes. But Godspeed my friend! haha

You want to favorably contrast a C5 Corvette's build quality against a New Edge Mustang's? lol.

Buy a used 5.0 coyote mustang and throw the change into the motor. Cp

Dude...I can't even convince my parents to let me buy an E30 and I'm 22 nearing graduation from electrical engineering school...Also, isn't that pretty high for a Terminator?

I've ridden in both, the difference is pretty noticeable. Regardless, a new edge mustang that is C6 money should be held to a higher standard.

CP. Its about 6-8 thousand overpriced. Find another one that isn't as cherry and isn't marked up by a dealer if you really want one. Lots of good suggestions for alternatives in here, so I won't repeat.

You can get a used 11-13 5.0 with equal or fewer miles for that. Having IRS is nice, but not that nice.

I have one, dad bought one really. Gave it to me...with a 100k mile warranty on it......it just broke 40k miles....I'm trying to give it back to them and have them get me a Mach 1 or Terminator...or something I can mod.

$25k for an 11 year old Mustang: CPCPCPCPCPCPCPCPCP

If you are OK spending that much on an old car, you could get a Viper (More power) or almost an old NSX (Cooler, better handling)

Were there only two?

How about a regular GT with an aftermarket S/C. That would save you a lot over this one. Though, you would be without some cred I guess.

Also, turbo Miata.

Here's an idea: Find out which platforms you like and lurk the enthusiast forums for those cars. Get a great price on a tastefully modded car with build documentation and community support.

thats WAY overpriced, for 25 grand you can get a car with like 10,000 miles on it

That car is around an 18 grand, no less car.

Miata wont work too small for me. I have a 5.0L 2011 GT but its under a 100k warranty so i can't mod it.

I'm a big ford Guy. I have a 1973 Gran Torino I'm working on maybe that will be my new DD and be done with the hunt.

I've been inside a C4, multiple C5s of varying trim, and a few C6s. C4 is definitely comically bad, C5 is conservative and fairly unoffensive, and the C6 is as nice of an interior as most vehicles on the market at the moment. I guess we have different opinions.

If this was an unmodified, pristine example with very few miles on the clock, then sure, nice price, but that would be more of a collector vehicle than what it seems like you want it for, which is... to bolt on parts? This is not a good place to start unless you have the budget to support it; Terminators have very high ceilings when it comes to horsepower optimization, but if you want to start trucking around the 700-800+ mark, you have to invest quite a bit of coin to get there. If you aren't looking for stratospheric numbers, then why bother with modifying a Cobra? A bog-standard GT can be easily pushed to around 500 without too much work, and I will tell you from experience, there's a lot of fun to be had with that.

Honestly, if you're just looking for something to crank on and you don't care about setting record dyno numbers, find yourself an '01-'04 Mustang GT and spend the rest of your savings in the aftermarket. Another poster suggested lurking around enthusiast forums looking for a deal, and I'd second that notion. You can find or build a decent GT that's every bit as fast as one of these Cobras for probably quite a bit less money, I should think.

I don't know how much of this you're covering and how much your parents are paying for, though, so I suppose that would affect your final decision. If dad's cutting the check for a Kenne Bell Mammoth blower for the Cobra, then I guess Godspeed and don't kill yourself with it too quickly. If, however, you're on the hook for whatever mods you want, your dollar will probably go further with the GT.

Otherwise, I don't see how it's vastly inferior to other brands. It compares well to:

All of these cars cost a lot more than a base model C6 (about double, if I'm being generous), and their interiors are nice, but leagues ahead of the Corvette? No. Arguably no. Same shit different day.

Hear ya on that. The Terminator is a good car, although the one you're looking at is certainly overpriced. To command that type of money, that car would either need to be a low mile stock car, a well maintained Mystichrome or be a highly upgraded car. This one looks clean, but in true worth I wouldn't pay more than 18000 for it. Hop on over to www.svtperformance.com and check out the terminator classifieds. If your pops is willing to shell out 26k on a Terminator, you can find a MUCH better one for that money.

Kinja'd!!!0

Do your research and get exactly what you want. Don't settle on something just because it's close. After all, if you could get a better car for less money, the price of a mechanic to look it over and a quality auto shipper is relatively inexpensive. The Terminator's are all out of warranty right now, so if this is going to be your sole vehicle, you really need to pick one up that is reliable. For the most part, the car is very reliable. They're incredibly simple and the engine is overbuilt. However, if you're looking at cars that have been modified, you don't know how the original owner treated it, or how those modifications were done. On anything with a pulley upgrade to a supercharger or other power adder upgrade, you're a bad tune away from a 10,000 engine replacement.

Another thing to look at is where you're at personally. Based on where that car is I'm assuming you're somewhere in Illinois. That's rust belt territory. If that car spent it's entire life in your region, it's age could indicate possible corrosion related problems. This car looks pretty clean so probably, not, but you have to think about that. Looking at cars that have spent their life in southern states and dry climates like AZ, NV. gives you a leg up on that issue.

I know how it is to be young and a want button flashing in your eyes. You'll thank yourself for doing your due diligence and picking the right car for you. Even if that means a bit of travel. Besides, how fun would it be to fly out of state and have an awesome road trip back home with your old man?

Kinja'd!!! Cherry_man1 > jlmounce
04/23/2014 at 18:50

Kinja'd!!!0

That is true. But he wont buy a car out of state really. Unless its Missouri wich I am in right now for school. The Torino I have right now will be more drive able soon. (For DD style) Also A stock one is preferable but those are even more expensive. I would love to have an NSX but few limiting factors. Most are stick and their expensive to work on. Stangs not so much. but an auto NSX I could do maybe.

These things are so fucking overpriced. I wanted one, really truly wanted one, when I bought my '06 GT, but good lord I didn't realize they never depreciated until I started looking. They're undoubtedly cool as shit though, but count me in the early S197/Mach 1/Bullitt camp.
