I'm trying to catch up on all the movies I'm surprised I haven't seen yet. So far The Usual Suspects is the only one I can't get into, and it's really annoying because everyone is constantly referencing it and I don't want to be left out... But no, I'll get 30-45 minutes in and I don't really know what's happening so I give up and do something more entertaining.

Oh, yeah, Trainspotting. As a native English speaker, it felt weird only understanding half of the dialogue. "British" English is only easy when it's ENGLISH English. Scottish English is a mindfuck, and throw in a rotting baby for good measure and I have no idea what I just saw. It was really good, though. Very reminiscent of A Clockwork Orange, in my opinion, but much cooler characters. Spud was lovable and Begbie was hate-able, and just the whole concept was great. Not sure what to watch next.

Trainspotting is a FANTASTIC movie! Haven't watched it in years though.

As for Usual Suspects, I am kind of with you, except for I watched it all. It was over, and I remember thinking "That's it? Well okay then."

I enjoyed the movie, not the cultural icon it became after it came out. Fake Scottish accents repeating line after line of it like it was the best thing ever. Ugh, 1996 had much better things to offer than that mess!

Read the Book for Train-spotting. Its written in Scottish Brogue. If you read it for a bit you will understand it. If you stop though, you have to relearn how to read it. It is a real real Mindfuck.

Stick with the Usual Suspects, It kind of picks up, and its a good movie. I wouldn't classify it as great though. Just don't tell Kaiser Sose

I am Scottish and Trainspotting is set about 20 miles from me. Its a pretty accurate film even down to correct brand's of smokes and the shite parts of Edinburgh. Try " The Acid House ". Another Irvine Welsh film, but again the book had more stories if you can handle reading the accent hahaha

The usual suspects is soooo awesome according to me in high school seeing it for the first time. Not sure how it would hold up though.
