DAT THINKPAD
Everything works, except the battery no longer holds a charge. 700MHz Pentium III, 512mb RAM, DVD-ROM drive + floppy drive, 30GB IDE HD running at a splendid 4200RPM, 15" 1600x1200 display (which is amazing for its age) and 16mb ATI gfx.

Hehe.. I'm a huge nerd mate ;) I remember having an awesome computer of sorts several years back.. dual CPU motherboard with some sort of 650MHz AMD cpu (overclocked to 950MHz) x2, 2 gigs of ram.. all that jazz :)

It's a shame the modern ThinkPads just aren't as high-quality as they used to be. I feel like Dell's Precision Lineup more closely follows the mix of power/reliability/build quality that the ThinkPad brand used to stand for.
I'm not one of those people that feel that any Lenovo-branded ThinkPad is horribly built (that's just not true) but the last 2-3 generations have just not inspired much in the way of confidence.

I had several Pentium II and III slot 1 machines a few years ago. I loved them; I did A LOT of tinkering

The newest lines (the x40s) really stemmed away from traditional thinkpads moreso than the x30 lineup did. I have a W530 and it's still pretty damn solid.

Daaaaaammmn.
I never used 98. I jump straight to ME from 95.
I think that thing is waaaay more powerful than my old Panasonic Let's Note CF-Series. 1Ghz Pentium III with 512MB RAM and 30GB plus 1024x768 13" :D
I'm not really into old pcs, but i do really into old phones. My current dd was a Nokia 9500 Prototype. Because it's like dd'ing a concept car.

That resolution is thoroughly impressive for a computer that ancient. A lot of modern computers don't have that high a ppi

Yep! I LOL at the fact so many new machines STILL come with 1366x768 resolution. That should be banned at this point
