The usual Prii (Priuses?) are even worse for the environment than pretty much anything else. There's always gotta be that one person who takes it WAY to personally and goes on a crazy rant about it.

It's been well established that Internet people hate the truth man.

I don't get the joke.
I mean, is being wrong the bit that's funny?

I've seen like four of these posts already this week about FP being douchebags.
Friends don't let friends go on the front page.

I dunno. Its not so much a joke as a fact. Bad wording on my part.

Well, I mean, it's not really a fact. It's especially untrue now with today's battery recycling efforts.

Dude, you've got to realize that for a certain segment of the population, the hybrid argument is akin to arguing about abortion and gun control. YOU CANNOT WIN. It is an argument that both sides are completely convinced they have right. You may have been trying to interject humor into the debate, but your efforts are fruitless.
I'm not going to tell you which side of the debate I'm on because it makes no difference. You may have gained an ally with me, but at the same time, you may have made an enemy. My opinion (because of my educational and professional background) matters more than most in a certain sense, but less than most in another sense.
I'm not trying to be deliberately inscrutable; my point is that there is no sense in arguing this topic. No matter what you say you'll end up looking like an asshole. I'm not saying this to be argumentative, but to make you realize that your opinion will not convince others to change their opinion. Your intellectual pursuits would be better served pursuing other topics.

I never specified that I never actually made a comment. It just came up on the thread and people went apeshit.
Personally, I'm all for hybrids. Shit, I want my parent's next car to be a Volt. And I wanted them to get a Vue Hyrbid. I think the tech is fascinating in what it can do. There's just those people who are stuck on old ways and then the ones that take defending it too far.

Nowadays, no, it really isn't. I never made a comment actually, it.was just a super long thread that had this argument inside.

It depends on who you're arguing with. I guarantee that there isn't a single person on whatever thread you scrambled out of that truly knows what they're talking about. It's a bunch of people poorly transcribing some study they skimmed through, or quoting some world famous automotive journalist.
Maybe there isn't any sense in arguing the topic, but it's an interesting subject to discuss and read about.
But making untrue claims about hybrids being literally Hitler is neither funny or witty. If anything, it makes you look like them.

Exactly my point, no matter which side you are on (if you are on a side at all).
Hell, my wife and I are at the point where we can buy any new car we want, and on some level, I was alternately hoping she'd either want a Prius or a CL63 AMG.
Her choice would probably alienate some Jalops, but not because of the fuel it burns.
Choose what you like because of what you want... not because of an ideology somebody says you should hold dear.

I'm responding here cause that is not a topic I'd ever want to discuss on the FP, but I'm curious how many Prius batteries have actually been recycled so far. I'd imagine that many are still on the road.
Also, unrelated to your comment (sorry), I'm curious how dirty making a Prius is not just in general, but relative to, I don't know, a Camry? That would be more interesting to me.

I'm older than most, but I have to admit, what you describe is becoming the norm in all subjects, not just the regular polarizing ones.
Oh, and Giz front page is going the way that's being described here, too. Whole lotta folk that have already made up their minds.
"I know what I like" versus the more common "I like what I know."

I'ts been a long time since I've used my picture now.. but I feel it's time again..
I'm not telling people that they should never read the stuff on the FP, but I highly recommend to stay away from the comments there. Can't remember the last time I actually even looked at the comments on the FP.
