I don't have many stories so I tell the same ones over and over again.

2007 Le Mans. Last set of fuel stops. The commentators are tired and just let the cars go 'round without a lot of gabbing. A Gulf colored Aston Martin comes into the pits, up in the jacks, new tires, waiting on fuel, drop the jacks 'zooo-zooo-zoooooooooooooooo' says the 6.0 V12 glides away.

Just then, Jan comes in a few pit boxes behind in a big yellow Corvette. Up in the jacks, new tires, waiting on fuel, drop the jacks BLAH BLAH RAAAAAAAAWR

What an American sound. No wonder the French go nuts for Vettes.

Though I quite appreciate the sounds of a good European or Mazda Rotary race engines. There is nothing quite as raw and visceral as the sound of an American race tuned V8. And in my opinion the General has put out some of the best sounding V8s.

I went to the Macau Grand Prix V8 last year, and it was so obvious when the Ford GTs were coming down the main straight. Yes, there were Porsches and Ferraris, but damn those big V8s were loud.
