Shit...this is a tough one. I LOVE the 8-Series, especially the M8 and the 850 CSi, but the Cosmo is such a wonder. The Cosmo's looks less dated despite the round foggy-ish headlights (hopefully super-clear aftermarket versions are available) versus the 8-series wedge-shape and pop-up headlights (which are awesome). The Cosmo has a Jalop-as-fuck 3-rotary which is great in RX-series but it out of place in such a heavy cruising car, especially with an automatic as the only option. The 8-series came with either a V8 or a V12 and options for an automatic or manual for all engines. In stock form, the 8-series 850CSi in manual. In modified form, the Cosmo with a LS and a tr-6060 6-speed

I must add that the Cosmo- beautiful, quirky, rare, and batshit as it is - is only available with a slushbox. It's a hard choice because of this.

now,I haven't done any research, but "20 year old twin turbo three rotor" doesn't exactly sound particularly reliable to me. (Not that 20 year old V12 does)

I almost bought a 1994 BMW 850Ci. I literally went to the house, cash in hand. But upon meeting the owner, (who was sporting a brand new M3) I couldn't help but feel he beat the living hell out of the poor car. I then decided a BMW V12 was more maintenance then I could handle and ended up with a 944 instead. Sometimes I wonder...

BMW 850CSi with the 6 speed manual.
As much awesome as a 20B has, it was automatic only.
So V12 with a manual transmission it is.
