Some cars that you want to import after the 25-year ban that are not a Skyline. Personally, I'm waiting for the day I can get my hands on a Calibra Turbo. Slick looks, 4WD, 204hp Turbo 4, 6MT, and o h god look at that ass !

I mean, it wasn't the skyline you were thinking of. Plus I think you can get these now.

smart roadster. The fortwo's rear engine powertrain crammed into a car reminiscent of old British roadsters. At the time, Top Gear praised it as one of the best handling cars on the road, and despite the gearbox, it brings a smile to the driver's face.
smart crossblade. Originally just a concept car, smart took a W450 city coupe, chopped off the roof, chopped off the doors, and made it waterproof.
The concept car was so highly praised that smart changed very little then went and built 2,000 of them...

Alfa Romeo 156 Sportwagon. Best looking station wagon ever, and lovely to drive as well (my folks have one back in New Zealand)

That's a very interesting hardtop configuration, it reminds me of the Lancia Beta Zagato or the Nissa EXA. I wonder why more cars don't offer this half-convertible feature?

I didn't know they made a canvas top for the EXA...that's pretty cool.
There are the classic Baur BMW's....
I think the half frame was really just a stop gap to preserve structural rigidity until they figured out how to make convertibles pass crash tests.
The Aerocabin is actually the very first folding retractable metal hardtop.
You also have things like the Del Sol with the power targa option...decades before Porsche.

You've got a while to wait before this model is available. Back in 1990 this was the Ute:

This is what I am waiting on. A late 90s Rover built Mini Cooper. 60's chuckability with modern steering, A/C, ABS & seats.

This is my dream: A Little red Fiat Barchetta. Yes, it was basically a punto, but I'd put it on some good suspension, put 225/R17's on it, big brakes, and swap in a 500 Abarth Drivetrain. When I lived in Belgrade, there was an old couple who lived in a building near me. The old guy had a yellow one of these. This was in the early 2000's, but I still vividly remember his bright yellow Barchetta, and how he'd spend hours with it outside, cleaning it, listening to music, and talking to his wife. They moved to Italy in 2006, and I never saw them again, but that barchetta has been burned in to my memory, and I have loved this little sportscar ever since. I have 6 years to go till I can get one in to the states! hopefully a few stock ones will remain by then...

I'm from Canada, we have a similar 15-year rule here. Can someone explain to me how people manage to import expensive sports cars which are less than 15 or 25 years old to Canada and US? Are there two sets of rule, one for most people, one for people who import luxury cars? When I found out about this silly 15-year rule "for road safety reasons" I did a double-take, almost got whiplash because the explanation was so ridiculous.

I dunno aboot Canada, but in the U.S. there is an exemption to the rule where you can bring in a vehicle under a "Show and Display" clause. It has to be a limited production car, and before you can bring it in you have to prove that it has some sort of cultural or technological significance, i.e. "fastest car in world when launched" or "first car to use x technology". The caveat is that the car has to be purely for show purposes, and you can only put something like 2000 miles on it per year.
That's how you are able to import something like a Cizeta V16 (note the California plates on the one in the video above), because only a handful were made and it had a unique engine configuration of two V8s joined by a common shaft with the transmission sandwiched between them.
