The overpriced underdog. Yes, It will cost you slightly over 10 grand more to go just as fast as a gt in a straight line. Yes, it takes about 7 months to make. Yes, it will cost you about the same as fully loaded GT500. Yet, at the same time I am so very attracted to it.
The price truly hurts when you look at the car. It comes with some nice paint, body kits, brakes, and suspension bits, but the good stuff only comes with the options on top of the $10,500 you have already put on the base price of the mustang at 22 grand. You are at 32 grand without the better bits. Once you add the procharger ($9,195), the bigger brakes ($3,195 for the fronts alone), Shelby shifter($575), interior package($2,995), aluminium drive shaft($1,100) and high flow radiator ($1,195) you are at a eye watering $50,959 for a V6 mustang with no delivery.
You end up with some pro's though 1. More power than a gt, but no faster than one 2. It will take corners in stride 3. You can play with the big boys, but still get around 30 mpg HW, and only pay V6 insurance(though it be higher still insurance depends how you declare it) 4. The best looking modern Shelby, at least in my opinion.
It truly is a overpriced monster, yet I am so very attracted to it. I search endlessly for wallpapers, with little success, and to find reviews is next to impossible. I hope if I ever get to drive it it does not disappoint me as much people ignore it. It is truly, an underdog, that could take your heart if you have the cash, time, and give it a chance.
Truly if it was just less expensive it would be much more reasonable. When they still did conversions from the V8 models i think the price was not too bad about 55 grand for 575 hp, and a great handling mustang. The problem is simple the V8 was always better, but now it is discontinued re-badged, and modified to have become the Shelby gt for not much more money. If the v6 was cheaper it may actually be a possibility, but when it comes to shelby's with the Shelby gt, and gt500 so close in price it just is not worth it.
Usually then the obvious choice would be the Shelby gt, sadly I consider it to not be as tasteful as the GTS.
Time to browse used cars until I find an old V8 GTS or get rich, and just forget about the money.
Opinions?

After driving the Roush Stage 3 Mustang this weekend, I don't want the V6, even if it is cheaper. And I like that the Roushis $15k less than the Shelby — makes me feel better about driving the #$*% out of it, whereas doing that in the Shelby would just make me realize how much money I am losing! Disclaimer: Haven't bought the Roush yet, but I'm getting there.

I'd rather have an 03/04 SVT Cobra.
