The Proctor suited its communications and training roles perfectly, with a top speed of 160 mph and a range of 500 miles. About 1,200 were built and used primarily in Great Britain. With its 210 hp de Havilland engine, the fixed-gear Proctor's performance compares well with the Messerschmitt Bf 108 Taifun.

Fun fact: Two (some say three) Proctors were modified with new wings and other cosmetic changes to resemble JU-87s (since no flying examples existed) for Battle of Britain (1969) and were dubbed Protukas by the crew. From what I've seen online however, the mods made the planes too unstable to fly, so they wound up using 1/4 scale models.

Interesting.

It's sort of a shame CGI has become so easy. We'll likely never have a Tora! Tora! Tora! with modified planes standing in ever again

Or even the " MiG-28 "s in Top Gun, for that matter.
