Because I always have the strangest layouts that would never work for most people. I think some might have some potential though.

Lets look at a family minivan!

I always thought a mid-engine mini van made at least some sense. So I built one! Photo dump:

Obviously crude, but the driver would essentially sit on top of the engine and transmission which is mounted reverse longitudinally and the transmission is connected right to the front drive wheels.

But who wouldn't want to own this massive and spacious yet relatively compact design?

Oh, and I went with cargo doors:

The concept is reasonable except you should include headrests for all seats and move the second and third row back some so the 2nd row's passenger heads don't bonk the driver's in any situations.

Good point(s), but doing this in Sketchup (Best 3d program I have right now...) is a PITA!

Aren't these essentially cab-over Kei micro struck things?

Yes, Kei vans and Kei trucks. Powered by an I2 engine until relatively recent times.

Now there's an idea - drop the gas engine and use the floor pan to store a crapton of batteries. Ultra-low center of gravity, and massive torque at low RPMs.
