Catch it!
The Prius inspired F1 cars are fantastic! Said nobody. Well except the Mercedes Works team, a horrible car you destroy the field with can only be so bad.
FIA you can be corrupt or incompetent, BUT NOT BOTH AT THE SAME TIME!

Really, I thought it started off pretty awesome, going to watch the rest later.

Its awesome, but not if you care about the winner, as that is sewn up by lap 5. And the constructors and drivers may be done before June.
I am enjoying the random hard fights for 5th place, and the superb commentators. But watching Hamilton win off of P1 by an completely absurd margin is getting real boring.

As opposed to watching Seb win off P1 by a completely absurd margin? *shrug*

That was the last 1/3 of the season, and the qualifying was always close (it isn't now), the first half of the season (pre-tire swap) was very competitive. So let's add hard core Seb haters to Merc fans to the only people liking the "new" F1.
Bonus, they managed to kill of the storied Lotus race team who now looks like Caterham senior.

Chill, mate. Or guy. Or sir. Whichever you prefer. :)
All I'm saying is, this season's midfield scraps are really fun to watch. Sure, at this rate, Mercedes runs away and gets both championships. Whatever, they really worked hard, packaged a great unit and they're winning. Not ideal for watchability, but eh. Let's see where improvements during the season take us.
Meanwhile, Red Bull, Williams, Ferrari, Force india, Torro Rosso (somebody fixed Minardi!), Lotus and Sauber are fairly kinda sorta close and racing eachother a great deal of time. Isn't that good to watch? :)
Personally, I've been a Schumi fan since I've been 8 years old in 1994. Even the years where he didn't produce scratch were fun to watch, he was still giving it his all. And being a character (for better or for worse). Nowadays I'd like to think I'm a more mature follower of the sport and just root for everyone a bit, mainly based on the effort, talent and general-non-doucheyness displayed by the drivers and team. And I'm really not trying to imply that you're immature or anything of the like.
I don't really see it as the "new" F1, though. It's what F1 has always been, changing. Surely Merc can't keep their dominance up for long? Renault must be chewing themselves up and getting ready to pour mad money into a new power unit for next year. Additionally, we're getting Honda on board and possibly a US team? Splendid. I'm from Europe, but I'd love to see teams which are not based within a stone's throw of each other. Plus, there are said to be rumors of BMW and Ford returning as engine suppliers.
If you follow the tech, it's exciting as well. SomersF1 and ScarbsF1 (his site is kinda quiet, why?) are the kinda things that I'd love to see more of on TV, if just as pre race snippets, even simplified, but not to the point of getting their facts wrong as has been known to happen . This tech is on its way (or already is) into consumer cars, and I love it.
Just one more thing. This has been bugging me for ages, tell me if you agree. The usual tracking angles of the cameras do little to depict the speed of the Formula cars. Add into all this the lack of body roll and you get what might be called by the casual observer as undramatic. Taking a corner at, say 200kph+. We need better camera angles. Why don't we see many kerb and fixed point cameras anymore? Look how cool WTCC stuff looks when it's flying past these - bridge mounted ones are the best.
Rant over, I guess. Have a good one. :)
