I saw this 745Li outside of my hotel this morning. Thing is, it has two different license plates. The rear is clearly a Florida plate, but the front seems to be a European plate (I believe it is German). Is this legal? I believe Florida only requires a rear plate, so that may be the reason this is okay.

yeah pretty common for BMW/AUDI/VW folks to run a euro plate up front if front plates aren't required.

If your state only requires rear plates, your can put basically whatever you want up front. Lots of euro car owners put european plates on the front. Hell, even some people in my state, where front plates are required, do it anyway. I would, if I lived in a state that didn't require them.

Well, it's a fantasy plate which is supposed to look like a German plate, but there's quite a bit wrong with it.

My uncle in Alberta (a no front plate province) has had this personalized Illinois plate on the front of his trucks for years. Google "CN 6060" to see his other ride.

Europlates!

I've got one that I stick in my front window at events. It's legal.

it's not a legal German plate. German plates have a city code first (1-3 letters) followed by the state and registration sticker (seen on the far left of his for some reason) then a combination of two letters and up to 4 numbers (traditionally). They have allowed some customization but it's not common and some stuff is restricted (can't be "HH 88" for example).

I have a true German plate, I just don't have it on my 530. Seems kinda goofy to be honest.

Not to mention "EMM" is not a real city code. It's probably the dudes initials.

For example, mine says "ZEL (reg. and state sticker) TG 1987"

I've also attached a picture of a common plate from where I grew up

Hellafail. If you're going to run a Euro plate, make sure it's a proper one.

It's legal in Tennessee, anyway. I run a Japanese SOFA plate from Yamaguchi prefecture on the front of the Mazda.
