im thinking of buying, fixing and flipping a non op 1991 audi quattro coupe with a bad catalytic converter. the owner just wants to get it off her property, I could get it for sub $500. is it worth doing?

Think about it this way: even if you can't get it running, a junkyard will give you $300ish if you bring it to them, so the actual risk is pretty low.
