I was just watching the movie Doomsday while working on things. There is a scene where a bunch of crazy dudes are chasing the protagonist. The protagonist is driving a brand new Bentley Continental GT and they are all driving randomly put together jalopies.

Somehow, even though they had a lead, the crazy dudes catch up and a whole fight scene ensues.

Really? You think those things would get anywhere near a 500HP V8 on brand new tires, when they likely have bald tired when considering the setting of the film?

Derp. They could have just as easily made that scene believable with the protagonist in a random jalopy as wel.

There were a couple things like this in the new captain america movie

First, they were "driving" in a new Silverado. Even though the entire time the truck in park. It was pretty obvious because you could see the column shifter above the dash, which you can't while it's in drive.

Second, the Captain slammed a new Impala into park while doing i'd say about 80 on the highway, without even touching the brakes. The front wheels lock up and it comes to a stop. I'm sorry but going putting a car into park at those speeds would just destroy every cog in that gearbox.

oh my god that's me.

I also do the same on thrillers or crime shows by pointing out things that allude to the plot's future and then everyone gets mad at me :(

The sad thing is,

I knew what the title would be before I hovered over the clip.

I could put my 97 montero in park at speed and it would just click. It also defied the montero poor reliability curse by reaching 227,000 miles with 0 issues

I once put a rental Chevy Aveo in Park at speed. The car went into "Neutral" and the shift lock made clicking noises until I braked to 5 MPH, then it latched on.

My smart completely locks out Park and Reverse above 2 MPH.

I think on newer GM cars, it does the same kind of lockout thing as your Smart. My mom's Vue does at least.
