Sometimes a car gets lost to the passage of time. But like a fine wine, it only gets better with age. Introducing the car you never knew you wanted, the Babich Lenigrad.

It's a one-off handbuilt 2-seater sports car built by Neva A. Babich, who's namesake car Leningrad mimics the city Babo was born in (Now called St. Petersburg). Neva took 3 years to make his dreams into reality and I tip my hat to this king among men, because this car is damn sexy.

Now any engine just wouldn't do for this one-off...it needed power from a motor that shares the same tantalizing beauty that exudes sophistication...ahhh yes, a motor from a damn limousine should do plenty!

Gorky GAZ-12 ZIM

The Babich had a 3.5L Inline 6 from a Soviet Limo, the GAZ-12 ZIM. That ZIM was produced by Gorky Automotive and was inspired by a nation that knows a thing or two about classy muscular designs....'Merica! It was inspired by the 1948 Cadillac Fleetwood and 1947 Buick Super, but I digress.

The Babich Leningrad had 90 horsepower with a compression ratio of 6.7:1 and 0-60 is estimated at the 30 second range. But I believe this was done on purpose for you see, when you drive the finer things that life has to offer, there's no rush to get anywhere...because you're already there at the helm of the Babich Leningrad. Plus, it just give more time for the passerbyer to palate the privelage of witnessing beauty in its purest form, never to be recreated by his/her mundane life ever again.

There are very few photos that exist of this elusive car at the pinnacle of its time when it graced us with its elegant presence.

The Babich is capable of reaching 80 miles per hour but no matter, speed is irrelevant when it comes to trying to outrun neglect. Here is the most recent photo of its current condition:

I sincerely hope that you enjoyed this cars mystique, beauty, and history as much as I did.

How depressing here is hoping it can be repaired and refurbished.
