of the SS being called a big Cruze, that they made the Charger a big Dart!

Unlike the SS, this is priced in reasonable amounts and is attainable by a lot more people.

They dropped the ball on this redesign. Yeah yeah the last one was polarizing I guess, but personally I loved it. It was aggressive, sleek and a tad sinister. This one, well the front end looks like a toy. Everything else is gravy; the rear looks great and the interior is relatively unchanged. I just cannot get over how boring the front end is
So now instead of buying a Charger R/T for our road tripping duties, I'm moving toward a Challenger R/T Classic with IQECAG

You need Challenger SRT10.
It will happen. My crystal ball told me so.

Errrrrrrr. Yeah, the base models. The only model that can compete with the SS is 10k more. And the ones that are priced the same eat its dust.

IQECAG?

No I don't. That 6.4 Scat Pack is quite tempting though. Then again it'll be driven cross country a lot, so fuel economy is a good thing. V6 is out of the question. I can't wait to see what numbers the 5.7 HEMI tied to the 8HP TorqueFlite hits
Yes I'm leaning toward automatic. Sue me. I have a 900 SPG and a 5-speed Dakota V8. My stable is Jalop enough

Not the point.
The Charger comes in a V6 with RWD and 8 speeds. At a price that a lot of people can afford easily. The Charger wins by that virtue alone, as it isn't some one and done, fully loaded or bust model that people might not want to pony up for.
It wins because it offers a lot of choices.

I'm going back and forth between a 15 Challenger R/T in B5 Blue with IQECAG and a 15 Mustang GT in Triple Yellow.... I have never had such a big first world problem in my life.

You're saying no to a V10?! HAVE I GONE MAD?!
But yea, the 5.7 combined with that 8 speed is MPG gold, what car with that transmission isn't? I'm pretty excited to see it.
And no, I'm not judging you for the auto. I'd take the auto. The Challenger is one giant cruiser. I love that about it. It doesn't even pretend to be able to be flat around corners or be some precision handling machine.
Its the best bang for buck cruiser on sale, I reckon.

I need to see that in first person. I can't decide how I feel about that front end. I liked how someone shopped the lights going all the way across that was cool.

I don't like the full lights too much, but I do appreciate the front end. It's looking better than the protuding maw.

Obviously the Challenger wins. Unless you want fast then go with the Mustang
The only reason I've chosen Challenger over Mustang ('15 GT 6MT in Guard) is because the wife has stated that she gets the next Mustang we buy. I am NOT getting stuck with this Fucus any more!
And yes, B5 Blue is the best color so far

yeah, especially removing the damned chrome. I hated the chrome cross up front. I think the current gen SRT though. A few weekends ago a guy brought out his super bee to a cruise, and man that was a sweet car.
Either way, I think the charger is one of the most compelling sport sedans.

Indeed. If they hadn't had redesigned the Charger, and just stuck that 8HP under the hood, that would be number one on my list. Now that it is boring, gotta go with the Challenger
And I'm not saying no to a V10 in general. If I happen across one, it may just end up in the Dakota. Mated to an NV6500 of course. Along with a solid axle swap and lift kit and

Eeee I loooove the B5 Blue. It's going to come down to the test drives, and we'll see how much speed I want if I can magically make it through this motorcycle season ticket-free again. *knock wood*
But my Ford discount is bigger than my Chrysler discount.... But on the one hand, crzrsn has a 13 Mustang, would our stable be too twee with two? But if I got a Challenger do I want his to be faster than mine? Not like he'd ever turn it loose on public roads, but still! I'd have to shell for some MOPAR performance and beat his ass. See, total #FWP.

I had always felt that the Charger was one of the few cars that got the gaping maw right. Except the SRT model, those looked awkward

I don't mind the opening itself, and actually like the way the SRT looked. I meant the weird way the crosshairs piece jutted out in their own piece way past the rest of the front.

I'll just jump in here for the sake of argument. The Charger R/T can be had for about $30k. It isn't quite as fast. A 13.7 compared to a 13.2 for the SS at a drag strip. On the track a half second is a good bit, but in real life driving it everyday, not a big difference. Also, the price difference between an SRT8 and the SS according to a motortrend or some such article, is listed as about $2k. I will say the Charger has more choice (awd, rwd, v6, two v8s) but I don't think there is a clear winner between the two.

I was looking at compably equipped. In this C&D test, when comparably equipped, the SRT is 10k more:
http://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/20…
And when you option out the R/T to match what comes on the SS, it would be within a couple grand of it.

That's true. If for some reason I don't want navigation, or a backup camera, or leather... I don't have to pay for all of it, though. The SS is typical of Chevy. If you want a decent engine, you have to pay for all the other stuff you may or may not want. If you want a stripper R/T, you can buy one... and save about ten grand. If you want a stripped SS, you can buy a, umm, an Impala I guess. The options just aren't there. That's why I think the Charger will do better than than the SS, and why I would pick one. There is certainly an appeal to a sedan with a Corvette engine. I think it's cool. I just don't think it makes sense for most people. In my eyes, the SS is a lot like the SSR. It's cool, but will never catch on.
