A little history here: This Mustang belongs to my girlfriend's best friend. It was her father's first car, he was the original owner. Sadly he passed away late last year after a long illness.

She knew she didn't want to sell the BOSS, and I filled her in on just how valuable it is. So it kept sitting in her parents garage.

Since today is the Mustang's 50th birthday, her dad's best friend called her up and asked if he could come over and see if he could get the Mustang running. Well, her dad kept it in great shape, all they needed to do was put some gas in the tank, jump the battery, and prime the carb a little and boom, that BOSS roared back to life.

They even took it for a little spin later. Pretty awesome.

Great story, and OMG that car sounds hot. I hope she enjoys the car.

She said the next time I visit I'll have to take it for a spin. She can't drive stick and (wisely) doesn't want to learn on the BOSS.

It's all original, I was stunned when I saw it. Just like it rolled off the factory floor.

Awesome story and history. Even more so that his friend took the initiative - had to be emotional.

droool everywhere. That thing is super clean looking from the video. Didn't even smoke after sitting that long?

Go rent a Kia with a manual, then teach that girl how to drive stick. If I saw a girl driving a 1970 BOSS 302, I would probably propose on the spot. Great car.

The plan will be close to that. She has a 2012 5.0 GT as her daily, so the power won't scare her too much.

...and her husband has had to deal with lovestruck jalops all the time.

I asked if there was a previous smokey startup attempt and there wasn't. Her dad had changed the oil, fluids, and filters a few months before he passed. I suppose he was hoping for another drive in it, or perhaps he just wanted to pass it on in ready-to-go shape.

That car is SO hot. Aggressive cams & lopey idle from the factory? Yes please.

Also, very touching story. I hope she takes good care of it (and keeps a stick at the ready to beat back the hoardes of gearheads trying to propose to her)

I could listen to that lopey idle all day long.

Good luck renting anything with a manual in the US
