definitely the best looking 2014 nose & chassis thus far. Is this LMP1 or 2?

LMP1, Rebellion only does LMP1, it will be one of the two private LMP1 cars, that will race in WEC, this year.
The other one is Lotus.
Will also debut at Spa.

I like that it's got a bit of 908 DNA in the headlamps.

Toyota and Oreca helped Rebellion with the car.
Oreca use to run a Peugeot, so I'm guessing that Oreca still had those Peugeot headlights around their workshop, and now put them to a better use.

The 908 is what I consider the best looking prototype ever. Sleek, fast, aggressive but also kind of elegant. So sad the PSA had to pull the plug on the racing program.

That is a really good looking car. I hope that Lotus will put the T129 together in time so that the private LMP1 teams can have a bit of nice competition. I just can't imagine the Rebellion seriously attacking the big works cars, at least not with a conventional engine setup.

Yeah it's a shame, they had amazing capability. Maybe someday when they dig themselves out of their financial hole they can make a comeback, a Compressed Air / ERS / Diesel power plant in a sleek new LMP1 would be a marvel.

Yeah I figured as much. I tried some digging and now I'm curious if Oreca had anything to do with bodywork development on the 908. Couldn't turn up much though other than that they ran the car.

That would be great, but it will take time. Citroen is doing okay in China, so at least they got something going for them. Peugeot started building nicer cars as well, but the EU market is both satisfied and hard fought.

The cars are lighter and simpler than LMP1 HY, and even if Toyota's and Audi's teams, showed almost clockwork professionalism last season, a problem can appear any time, allowing privateers a fighting chance.
