Might be worth it for numbers correct 4v on a 289. Seems a tad high though...

I'd go maybe 14 or 14 1/2. 17K does seem to high.

I mean it looks nice, it's a good high quality driver car that looks pretty damn original. But to me it's more of a 13-15k car, it's not a restoration.

Gotta love those dealer installed AC systems. I owned a 65 a long time ago. 289 2V. I guess the 4V is why the exhaust is dual and goes through the lower valance panel in back. Not sure about the price, though. There is a ton of them out there.

Yeah, but only 42,000 miles.

That's a fair point, but I think I need that proven with service records because it could have easily rolled over, seems like a lot of wear under the hood.

That is not a 142,000 mile interior and that's just dust under the hood not oil and grit.

That's true but it's not 100% original under there giving things like the heat shielding fluff crap is removed from the hood and I'm not so sure those are stock valve covers.
If it's ACTUALLY 42k miles, it's worth more than what he's asking, especially if it has some paperwork. And my Montego is only 60k miles and looked worse under the hood so anything's possible.

All NPoCP decisions aside, I genuinely wonder when I see cars like this go up for sale, why do people sell them? I know there is a multitude of reasons across the board, but it's not like you're selling a Civic here, you are selling a god damn 1964 Mustang!

I don't think they all had under hood insulation. Also those could be dealer installed valve covers and air filter cover.

Hmm, I think they all had it, but most of us removed it because it looks like crap when you show off your engine.
The Air Cleaner should be stock or at the least, dealer installed like u said.

Everything was optional from Ford back then.

- 2 piece export brace was stock, but 1 piece was available from dealer I guess
- Washer bag was stock, not the plastic jug-thingy
- Looks like electric choke? Not 100% on this from the pic
- Antenna has been replaced, original doesn't retract fully
-From the underside, the trans looks way too clean, probably has been rebuilt
-I hope that center console is one of the set-in ones and not the bolt-ins
Small things, but that interior is fantastically done and the under carriage is pretty decent.
I'd think it's about 15-16.5K depending on servicing. Stock 289's have been going up in price lately I've noticed. Probably because of the Anniversary

I'm guessing someone got old. For a lot of people the time comes where they move into a home, or want something a bit more comfortable to get them around. When it's hard to get into/out of the recliner, getting in and out of a sportier car isn't much fun.
That being said, I want a classic Mustang. Something rough around the edges so I can get some practice restoring something. Also, something I can put a 3-cylinder ecoboost in, just to mess with people.

True, I actually hadn't thought of that (could you guess I'm on the younger side of the spectrum?).
Do iiiiit! At least it stays in the family, and they really aren't half bad either. My FiST averages 28mpg while still kicking the shit out of any car that wants to get frisky on my commute

There's the saying "It's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow". I figure an ecoboost 3-cylinder isn't too far off from the amount of power that the original V6 Mustang made. There'd be a ton more room in the engine bay, and it'd be quite fun to flog the heck out of it.

Exactly. And I bet you the owner won't go past 16K for it if even that low.
